..that in 20+ years, there'll be a generation of people who'll be convinced the "good old days" of music were the early 2000s when we had "classics" like Fergie, The Pu55y Cat Dolls, Fall Out Boy & Ashlee Simpson??

I mean they didn't *ask* to be born when they were, so their aesthetics of music will differ, but man, compare Fergie to....Janis Joplin..

Gotta strongly disagree w/ Sybil. I honestly cannot se how hacks from American Idol & Jessica Simpson is an *improvement* from acts like the Beatles & the Stones.

Sorry. But 90% of what's on pop radio today is decidedly a huge step Backwards to my ears...

You know, I was born in '93.
And I pretty much hate Ashlee Simpson, Fall Out Boy, and the Pussycat Dolls.
You have to remember that not all teenagers these days like the same stuff.
Sure, there's a lot of kids out there that like that stuff, but there are also a lot of kids out there that like different stuff (better stuff IMO :]).
And do you really think that Fall Out Boy fans are going to be as obsessed with them when they get older?
People's music tastes change.

And you're right, Janis Joplin is amazing.

I CANNOT STAND FERGIE! I know it's my personal opinion, but i really don't think she is a real artist.

I hope my son likes the music that i listened to in the 90's. I know i love the music my parents listened to when they were young (spanish stuff). I guess it just depends on what they like!

I find the state of music in general to be pathetic right now. Anything anygood is underground. Kurt Cobain, come back we need you.

I've thought about that ;; I wish it was the 70's so that when I grow up I can brag to my kids about going to Led Zeppelin concerts. So sad . . we have no good music.

I don't think it's scary at all. I'm 51, and the good old days for me was the Beatles, Stones, Zeppelin, and it just gets better everyday. ~~~~
