Because, by and large they are much wealthier than the people they represent - most of federal representatives are millionaires ( or soon become one once they are elected ). Also, if they spend too much time in Washington DC they forget about what matters most for the people who they represent.

That is an opinion. Never ask a why question unless you are a newsperson. How many elected officials have you known?? To state uniquivicably that elected officials think they are better than we are is unfair. What you need to do is get involved with your elected officials in your city, volunteer. Not everyone is out to screw you. Now if you were to ask why do overeducated public officials think they KNOW more than us, because they do. That education-Hillary attended a ivy league college, she's an attorney she sounds like an attorney. That doesn't mean she isn't a nice person.

Because they finaly got that 25000.00 a year job.And they'll hang on to dear life to keep it.Look at Clintons.Embarassing and i could go on and on.The US is run by power hungry nobodys.They are sapposed to be servants but who do they serve nobody but them selves.I'm not saying all polititions are bad but most are.Peace

Do you think Keith Ellison thinks he's better than you? Do you think Barbara Lee thinks shes better than you? Sure, maybe people on both sides of the aisle DO think they're better than you and above you (Kucinich? Hastert?) but a majority of them don't.
