My 5 mth old daugther learnt to laugh back in december, now she doesn't really laugh anymore. Before she use to talk to her toys, well coo and caa to her toys, now she keeps pretty quiet. Is this normal for babies to start and then stop for a while. She is acting normal, but less coo'ing. Should I be concerned?

don't be concerned. she is learning how to be a little more independent now. she'll be fine. my daughter would giggle and play and even babble when she was about 6 mths and than she just stopped and was quiet for a long while!

Our baby laughed at 4.5 months and then not again for another month and now laughs more frequently. I find that some days he is really vocal and other days less so. I haven't asked the doctor about it, but on his last check up which was two weeks ago everything seemed fine.
Maybe your baby got used to making those sounds and is now taking in more of her surroundings and quietly processing what she is experiencing.
If she seems happy and well I wouldn't worry too much about it yet.

I wouldn't worry--there's a huge range of normal at that age, plus she has probably moved on to another stage and is thinking about something else now instead of making noise all the time. Just to make yourself feel better, try getting her to laugh and smile at you. I bet she will! However, if after trying to get her to laugh and smile for a couple of weeks, you aren't getting anywhere--as in, she's not doing it at all--then I'd ask her doc just to be sure. Good luck and don't worry! I'm sure she's fine! Enjoy your little gal!

I am usually an anti-alarmist, but only due to close personal friends who have kids with problems I would advise just mentioning to the pediatrician at the 6 month appointment. Don't lose any sleep over it, but mention it. Just in case.

maybe shes bored that her toys dont talk back to her.. i mean wouldnt u be mad if the wall kept not answering u...

did u try to communicate with her urself... like actually having a convo with her... and not jsut sounding like a re re

also did u try to make her laugh... such as making funny noices and faces... interaction is such an undone thing by parents as i have noticed..

i tend to always talk to children and get reactions out of them bc i think that its way better for their brains development...

ps.. seriously try talking to her... she should try to mimic ur mouth movements... or actually make noises back

if not then i would go to the dr... she might be having an issue...

i dunno
hope i helped

NO. babies will go through stages. You will find that even when they get older. They will make lots of sounds and move around a lot then they won't. IT is normal and everything is fine.

They all do things at their own pace. And they work on some things at one time, others at other times. Like motor skills one day, language another. It's normal.

no don't be concerned. there is a huge range of normal for babies. When they first figure out they can make noise its all they do, the the novelty of it wears off.
