A hero to me is a person that does good deeds for others. I have read of some environmental related causes (in addition to today's big announcement) that Branson has been involved with (like ethanol). I am not that familiar with the man to have a very strong opinion, but my general view is he's been involved with some good causes and has become very concerned about the environment. I also respect him for being innovative (but that has nothing to do with being a hero). Maybe its better to judge the actions, and not the man?

Investors are not necessarily bad guys. It is hard to judge if what he does is to help companies do a better job and to improve the environment, for example, or if it is just about publicity.
In the end, his conscience will determine the answer but I do like the fact that he is trying to save the environment. That is important work.
