Hmmmm, such a good question. I must say we don't ALWAYS feel this way for one thing. But i think it is something that starts from birth.
If you tell a child no....they hear yes. I know this because i tested several little children in preschool. When i didn't want them to touch something, i would leave something such as a certain toy they liked in the middle of the room and then i would leave and before leaving i would say, "please touch that toy". I would watch them from outside a window unknown to them and you would not believe they would not touch that toy. However, when i told them , " do NOT touch that toy" , and then left and watched them once again, they were all over the toy.
It isn't that they are drawn to the "forbidden", i think it is that we are born to question authority and for a reason. Afterall, when we don't look what happens. Just look at our governing forces in America today.

It is because we feel as though we are getting away with something, or "turned on", by having a secret. If you want a rush of adrenline, I suggest you go bungee jumpping off of a 250 foot cherry picker crane. You will never forget it, nor does anything feel as good, as the rush of adrenaline.

Because we are curious beings. The more secretive something or someone is, the more we want to find out. The more walls and curtains block the view, the more we want to see. The more warning signs that say 'keep off', the more we want to try and find out.
It's just like 'magic' and 'mystery' - the less information there is, the more interesting it is. The main thing is deliberate omission.
If I told you... "I know something important about your childhood, but I'm not going to tell you what it is.." Then, you might get curious. Because I am withholding information deliberately.

The drive to explore is the essence of being human. Everything we are only makes sense as we explore, try something new, discover something we did not know ....
The drive doesn't care about what's allowed or not. Anyway it is only other humans who try to tell us what is allowed and what is forbidden.

Because we are inquisitive and are always looking to push the boundaries of taboos that are set to us as individuals or groups.
Oh and above all it's human nature to want to try and get away with something.

My partner tried the 'forbidden fruit' of life and I've just binned her. No marriage, no holiday, no financial security, no partner. Just heartache all round.
Some people think its worth it!

It started with Adam and Eve. They were told not to eat the fruit of a particular tree and the snake( the devil), talked them into it. So if you believe in the devil, he's to blame. If you don't, we learn from example.

We always want what we can't or shouldn't have. We always do something that we shouldn't do. It's exciting and bad which attracts us.
