Not sure what your budget it, so I'll try and cover a few things.

Go see Red Rock Canyon and or Valley of Fire. Also Hoover Dam if you've never seen it. You can also drive to the undeveloped West Rim of the Grand Canyon in about two hours.

Check out the old casinos on/around Fremont Street downtown. Everything is cheaper and you get more of that old Vegas feeling. 777 Brewery at Main Street Station is good for drinks and food.

Bellagio fountains. Mirage volcano. Walk through Wynn and Venetian. NYNY rollercoaster is an overrated cash cow, but if you must ride it try to scam some free tickets from the front desk people.

If you like shopping check out Caeser's Palace and Aladdin. Good outlets down in Primm, 30 miles south.

$1 beers at Ellis Island Casino and Brewery, one block east of the Strip at Flamingo and Koval. Good BBQ joint there as well - $6.95 (ish?) for a huge plate of chicken and ribs.

Nine Fine Irishmen is an Irish pub at NYNY - a little pricey but the Guinnness is good, the food is good, entertainment nightly, no gaming machines built into the bar, and the atmosphere and decor is great. Also has an outdoor balcony and patio on the Strip - great place to hang out on a nice day and people watch.

Head to the top of the Stratosphere on a clear day. Bring your own binoculars if you have 'em. Go at before sunset and watch the city lights come on. The restaurant isn't that great, but it spins, so that's fun I guess.

Social House at TI is good for food and nightlife. No shortage of clubs and ultralounges at Palms, Mandalay, Caeser's, and so on.

Craftsteak at MGM for dinner. Quail is good. Hanger steak is real good. All the sides are delicious. Chef's tasting menu is worth the money. If you do that, shell out the extra for the wine pairing.

Check out a Cirque show. Mystere is the best all-around. Ka is good if for no other reason than because of the amazing set and stage - the story gets a little dull in the middle, but it's definitely worth seeing. O is good, but pricey and hard to get tickets for. If you like the Beatles, you'll like Love. Not my cup of tea, but my friends all really enjoyed it. Zumanity is an adult-themed show at NYNY. Good show, but not my favorite.

If you're not into Cirque, Phantom of the Opera at Venetian is good. I've seen the Broadway production, and this one is definitely different, but not in a bad way.

There is always some musician or comedian or boxing match or whatever in town.

Hard Rock pool (a cabana is a lot of fun). Palms pool. Mandalay pool if it's not still under construction when you get here.

Nuclear Test Site museum. Bodies exhibit at Tropicana. Art galleries at Bellagio.

Just walk up and down the Strip, stopping in and out of miscellanous places, and marvel at how ridiculous the whole thing is.

Spend the money for a Cirque du Soleil show, particularly "O" if you can afford it. They are amazing performers and will blow your mind. Spend at least one evening in "old" Vegas (Freemont Street). It is very tacky but the gambling odds are better, it's not as over-the-top as the Strip, and you can easily walk from casino to casino. The Light Show on Freemont Street is the tackiest thing I have ever seen--- so bad that it is good! The Bellagio and the Venetian casinos are worth the trip; both are gorgeous and you can spend hours just wandering around.

No matter what casino you are staying at, join their Players Club (it's free) and use your card whenever you gamble--- hand it to the dealer for table games, stick it in the machine for slots and video poker. You get credit for time spent playing and if you spend enough time playing, you'll get free meals or big discounts on your next visit.

And don't plan too much before you get there. There is a TON of stuff to do in Vegas and lots of time, you don't know till you get there. Your hotel will have a concierge who can help you find the best shows and activities.

When you arrive at the airport pickup the city guide. They can also be found in the back of cabs. These can give you some valuable coupons and ideas of where you may want to visit. Walk the strip, there is usually promo guys walking around with free passes to all the clubs. You my have to pass him a few bucks but it is well worth it. I paid $20 for a stack of free passes for four people to some of the premier clubs. The MGM grand has the best buffet, the Sahara has one of the best values for a buffet and three dollar blackjack, The Venetian has Gondola ride that you definitely need to ride at a decent price. The Palms clubs are overrated.... Pay five dollars for the 24 hour bus pass that takes you up and down the strip. The Tropicana has a ton of free shows that are worth the time. There is an irish bar in front of Margaritaville that has the best value in beers. Dre's is the best after 2am club and I think still goes on until 5am...

This is kind of different. When I went to Vegas for the first time I had a driver pick me up and take me to Red Rock Canyon where I went on a horse back riding tour. It was beautiful! Also, Top of the World restaurant in the top of the stratosphere was fun. The restaurant rotates 360 degrees every hour so you get an amazing view! Don't spend all your time sitting in a smoke filled casino.

It can be a very overwheling city for the first time visitor. I suggest you do a walk thru the Wynn, visit the Bellagio - and take in the fountain show, and go to the top of the Eiffel Tower at Paris.

My true advice is to do whatever interests you that day - I always go whereever the wind blows me.

Pick up a guidebook (Barnes & Noble or Borders carry a lot) and try to get an idea of what each hotel has to offer and what might interest you - and take it from there.

You didn't mention where you were staying, but most of the hotels have enough going on that you might never feel compelled to leave their grounds. =)

i've got been there a pair of situations and did no longer incredibly shield it. The slot machines in the casinos consistently making that bling-ding-ding noise. Lake Mead is an environmental horror tale. Vegas became in no way meant to be as super because it has gotten.

Get a good pair of walking shoes, and spend a couple of days walking down the Strip, going into every casino to see what is there. Each one has something different. Then go see Hoover Dam, go downtown, rent a car and drive to Death Valley, the list could go on for ever. There is more to see than you have time.

BTW, a favorite of mine is the roller coaster at NY,NY.
