The laptop has still 6 more months of parts warranty but the service center says it takes at least 14 working days to fix the problem. It is very difficult to give up the laptop even for 24 hours.

Your hard disk is in the process of failing. Though it's only one bad sector now, it will not magically get better. It's like finding one little spot of malignant cancer... The handwriting is on the wall and it's only a matter of time. The "big boys" deliberately make it extremely inconvenient for you to use their warranty. Saves them the hassle and the money.

Make a choice. Is giving up your computer for three weeks worth the price of just buying a new hard drive? They're betting it isn't.

Sorry... but the truth is harsh. If you'd bought it from us, we'd have guaranteed a 24 hour turnaround, on-site.
