Hi,
I am pregnant and live with boyfriend who is the father of the baby.
I want to apply for Medicaid as a single mom and say that I don't know who the father of the baby is.
Will Medicaid demand to do a paternity test on my boyfriend if I tell them he is just a roommate?
What if they do give assistance for single mom but later we marry and put his name on babys certificate of birth, will they find out
and try to prosecute me for lying that I he is not the father?

WOW! Using the system already! WAY TO GO!

Pregnancy medicaid is fine, but don't lie. If they find out they will collect from him! YES THEY WILL FIND OUT. Possible jail time.

DON'T LIE.

BTW MICHAEL, how can you be pregnant? Your not a girl are ya??

If really all depends on where you live. Like when I lived in NC it was illegal to live together and not be married so they would not give you assistance. I hear so many stories from different people. Some say it's ok and some say it's not. I personally would not tell them about your boyfriend. Healthcare is realllllly expensive and the gov't should be paying for the overpriced crap so don't feel bad for using it. Your man work, you work, your family works and pays into medicaid so go ahead and use it. All they can do if they find out you lied is make you repay everything. So go up there say you were drinking or what not and are not sure who the father is so you have no names. The birth certificate signing does not matter, anyone can sign a birth certificate. But if you go for anything other than medicaid they will look into you so much, medicaid they don't come to your house or anything. They make it impossible to qualify for unless you lie so thats your best bet. Don't tell the truth then screw yourself with ridiculous medical bills. And to all those who complain about paying for medicaid I don't want my taxes going to a war but it does, or SS which I will never see but it does. Some people just are not fortunate enough to have a job that offers benefits and no one unless your rich can afford health care w/o some type of coverage.

Just tell the truth for the baby's sake. If your boyfriend is working and covered by medical insurance, then there is a good chance that your baby can be added to his insurance. If neither of you have no medical insurance, you will be entitled to something since you are pregnant. It can either be medicaid or the family healthcare program in the state where you live. There is a possibility that they will seek some kind of reimbursement from the father of the baby at a later date. They will not force a paternity test on someone that you are telling them is just a room-mate. You should not lie. What if you guys break up and 5 years down the road you are seeking child support from him and you went and lied on these government forms. Just be honest. Good Luck.

You will get it no matter who the Father is. They go by your income. Most pregnant women get it no matter what. Whatever you do.. do not lie about anything. They are going to run your social security number and it will tell them all they need to know. I am married and have it, due to the fact I had to quit my job because of pregnancy complications. You need to research some more on Medicaid.. I would hate for you to be denied because you are not honest on your application. It is there to help you. No matter if you are single or married. They will not discriminate you for any reason, except for fraud.
You could even have insurance thru your job and still get medicaid as a back up. It is not a welfare, it is there to help you have a healthy pregnancy and healthy baby. Do not let anyone make you think that you are cheating the system. This is why we pay taxes. LAMOM and LACHIP programs are working for me. Also you could apply for WIC to help with nutritional needs.

Depends on what state you live in... In Alabama if you're not married and apply they really don't investigate for medicaid or food stamps, but will if you get money from the state to help with your children... there are all kinds of women who claim to be "single moms" and aren't. Some states sue the father for any assistance they give the mother and child. But I personally feel that if you're telling a lie to get assistance and you have a boyfriend/father that is living with you HE should be helping you. If for some reason he is unable for a legit reason you wouldn't have to lie. But chances are if you're dishonest it'll come back on you.......KARMA

You can sign up for welfare and food stamps even if his name is on the birth certificate. All you have to say is that you do not know where he is.
You can also play it like that too by saying you don't know who that father is and they can't make you do a paternity test. If they do you can give them a big long list of guys and they won't want to go through all that time and money.
I wouldn't say that i live with anyone if i were you and if you do this do not tell anyone because if someone gets mad at you then they will call in on you. You know how people are. There was this girl on here not that long ago threatning to turn in her "friend" for getting foodstamps, hud, etc.
Good luck

i help people apply for medicaid every day. that is my job at a hospital. if your combined monthly income is less than 2035.00 and this is your first baby you will get approved. if you have more children the monthly amount you make goes up from 2035.00 you don't have to lie. pregnancy medicaid isn't hard to get as long as you don't make a bunch of money. i have probably gotten 50 people on it in the last 3 months i have been on this job and only one was denied because they made too much. good luck to you!!

You can still get Medicaid if you have a low enough income. All they ask for is your income as well as your boyfriends. It's stupid to lie when you can get Medicaid anyways.

I'm even married, but can't afford insurance, and I was still able to get Medi-Cal.

Lying is always a bad idea.
