Here we go with the labeling again! Don't you know it's not nice to label people you don't know?
I use my computer & the internet because I don't get out of the house much, I have difficulty in walking & using the car is kept for errands that must be done by car, grocery shopping, doctor visits etc.
I'm pretty darn sure that my use of the computer dosen't constitute any great consumption of energy, not like a hair dryer, hair curler, heaters, 10 lights on all over the house & so on.
I recycle, use low energy bulbs, keep my thermostat turned down to a point that I have to use a sweater & sometimes a blanket in the evening. My thermostat automatically turns down @ 11 p.m., so I use down blankets to stay warm in bed. What else to you want me to give up so that you can tool around in the car on Friday & Saturday nights?

Because the amount of electricity and polution generated there is nothing compared to, say, the amount of polution put out by a car that's far larger than it needs to be.
Did you know that fuel efficiency in US cars has dropped by 10% over the last 10 years? Or that most people who buy SUVs have two children or less, meaning that they have a 7-person car for a family of four?
By the way, even Pat Robertson is concerned about the environment.

the amount of energy used by accessing the internet is an infinitisimal percentage of total energy consumption.
The entire world could stop using computers, and yet the impact would marginal at best.
Whereas, if everyone were to ride bicycles or use public transportation to go work, a colossal impact would be made.
I ride a bicycle to my office.
I use a computer because I have to.

If libs are so worried about energy consumption, they will turn off those pesky computers immediately!

They don't think that way.
They will ride their bikes to work, so they don't have to use cars, but not realize that the grease they use on their bike comes from petroleum.
So do the tires.
