Sincere question. I think about all the people who could make a big difference in the political world today, but are probably not willing to give up their freedoms and lives for the cause. And can't say I blame them.

So...why do you think people go into politics? Is it for fame, notoriety? Or are some people just civic minded and truly want to dedicate their lives to their country, and making it the best it can be?

It would be wonderful to see examples of the latter...

Ego, pork, the benefit package, the great work schedule and the pension. They may go in with the best of intentions but few remain unaffected by the constant temptations.

Power, prestige, accomplishment, and money. (money comes from gifts, books, and speaking tours)
