Two wrenches. The big nut where the fuel line hooks to the carburetor has to be removed to get at the sintered metal fuel cylinder. Watch how the spring comes out and which way the filter goes to reinstall it. Sometimes the gas line nut is rounded off and you need to use a vise grips to hold it while you loosen the big nut at the carburetor body.

if you can find where the fuel line comes in to the carb that is where the filter will be. take a screwdriver and loosen the clamp on the hose and take it off. you should see a spot where a wrench can go on right on the piece where the hose was hooked to on the carb unscrew that and your filter is in there but be carefull cause there is a spring in there as well don't lose it.

where the fuel inlet hose meets the carb, you will see a 5/8" fitting on the carb. unscrew this fitting and the filter is inside.
