It's often done when women are in the middle of a divorce. Don't always assume that though. It could be for some other reason. She may need a ringless left hand for something.

I feel it means that either she is divorced or seperated or is trying to appear like she is single. This is definitly a sign of being not happy in a marraige. She also could be a widow.

You have to ask her...there are lots of reasons. I wear my grandmother's on my right hand, I am not married. Yes, a few people have asked, and I just tell them it is a family heirloom :-)

the only way you are going to know that is by asking her.
there could be tons of reasons, it belonged to someone in her family, she is going through a divorce, she is seperated, or she is cheating. don't assume just be upfront and ask.
