How do get rust off of tools? How do you prevent tools from rusting after they've been getting wet for 3 days? How long does it take before they start to rust? Boyfriend will be home by 10:00 tonight!

Just spray them well with WD-40 and wipe them off. Three days being wet usually will not cause any serious rusting and the WD-40 will displace any water remaining on the tools and leave a protective coating on the tools.

If they are just lightly rusted some fine steel wool and WD-40 or something similar might help (if you rub to hard may also take the finish off) To prevent them from rusting oil works wonders, again WD-40, 3 in one oil, or again something similar.

Just let them air dry. The tools are probably coated with enough oil to prevent rusting! If they aren't, he doesn't use them enough to warrant having them! If they are power tools, let them air dry for a few days before using! No problems This happens to every one. I was only kidding about not using the tools enough. I will give up my right arm before I give up my tools!! Just explain that the weatherman was wrong again. The tools will be fine!!

go to hardware store, get rubber gloves, a cheap paint brush, and something called naval jelly. it a little corrosive so be careful. It takes rust off like nothing else. then clean odd by spraying a light oil (wd-40) on a rag and wipe the tools clean

I would suggest that you go ahead and put WD-40 on them and then get a wire brush and try to get any rust that has already accumulated on them off ASAP!! :) Good luck.... I know tools are very expensive, but I think this might work! :)

WD-40 might help get the rust off

use a product called pb blaster (wd-40 will work too) and spray them down. let them set with it on them for about 20 minutes then take a shop towel and wipe them down. depending on the brand of tools you might be able to take them back and get replacements.
