I went back to school and all I hear about is race and gender. One professor has been blathering on and on about "whiteness."

This seems so pointless.

In fact, it seems deliberately divisive.

I love hearing about race, religion, and gender. We all have differences with regard to all three of the above but we all have soo many similarities. I find race, religion, gender talk fascinating. And as a white Catholic woman I hear tons of stuff against me. But, I also hear tons of stuff against men, other religions, races. It's OK. A lot of stuff is said in ignorance and then there is also a lot of truth said. As long as people aren't malicious I don't mind hearing their opinions.

It is deliberately divisive. We continuously divide ourselves into groups. That way we can look down on one another and step on someone. But the worst group of all would have to be White Middle-Aged Males. They get the bad wrap. I think it sucks. Sorry guys. :(

YES! I am becoming a social worker and in one of my classes about culture, all I hear is how white people are horrible esp the white male! I am a white female and hearing this **** all the time pisses me off, if the stuff said about white people where said about other races the schools would be charged! I am so sick of this these classes it almost made me a racist because I was so sick of hearing coloured students complain about white ppl and my professor and like I live in Canada and their talking about slavery like WTF Canada had asian slaves not black ones

Yeah... people who do that under the pretense of being enlightened and intelligent do more to create anger and racism than the KKK does. Everyone knows the KKK are ignorant thugs, but the people spewing this 'whiteness' crap are supposed to be teachers and educators.

No, I don't hear it. Or it just goes in one ear and out the other. I only hear "blah blah blah" and I focus on my own thing. Maybe you just ended up with a bad professor.

From what I have learned, this world is only made to work for white Christian men. Where's the equality?
