If you're a guy, it's definitely not too late. If you're a girl, then you'd better be in a top pre-professional dance school right now. But it doesn't make sense to take that plunge into rigorous training when you haven't been at it long enough to even know whether you need it enough. People who go on to train to be professional dancers - never knowing whether they'll even make it or not - NEED to dance as much as they need to breathe. It's a tough life that is not for the feint of heart. If you can see yourself being happy doing anything else besides dance, you need to give yourself time to seriously explore those options as well. The dance world is not as glamorous as many believe.

No of course not. Its never too late to be who you want to be.
Have you ever heard of John Amaechi. He's the basketball player for the NBA that recently just came out of the closet. The guy lived in England and never played basketball until he was 17. At that point he liked the game and decided that his goal was to be in the NBA. And that's what he did. In a few years he was in the NBA.

So if you really want to be a ballet dancer you can do it. It all depends on what you really want.

Good Luck and here's a website that will give you more info on ballet dancers.

No! You can become a pro dancer if you started when you were 6 or 16! Promise...but you can't do this unless you work hard. I repeat: Work Hard!

It's never too late to start. It really depends on your determination, dedication, and resources - those factors are most likely to really determine if you become a pro one day. Set your own goals and don't let the social 'norm' stop you from achieving your dreams!
