From what I've read, one cigar is as dangerous as smoking 11 cigarettes. If it's just as dangerous as cigarettes, why is it socially acceptable? And in my opinion, cigars smell just as foul as cigarettes.

Good question. I agree, they both smell equally bad. Maybe it's because cigars are often an affectation of an affluent or well-to-do image, like a status symbol.

I think cigars appeal more to white collar higher class of people. Cigars are collectable items as well (even if the collecter doesn't smoke em). Some people actually like cigar smoke over cigarette smoke. But I know what you mean.

Cigars are NOT socially acceptable where I'm from. Many restaurants specifically banned cigars and pipe-smoking long before there was a general smoking ban

cigars are associated with wealth and civilization; hand made from quality ingredients. cigarettes are cheap and not very high quality. im not a fan of any tobacco myself but thats just me. pot smells better than tobacco, waaay better

I'm not sure I agree that cigars are considered "socially acceptable". Nope, not at all.

Because only "civilized" people smoke cigars or can afford to smoke them everyday. These people are more socially acceptable then street trash

Because cigars are less addictive than cigarretes.
