Is the a way to convert the file so that it's compatible with Itunes / Ipod?

AVI wise I'm not to sure..

However with MPG's, you can use a great (freeware) program called Videora.

It's a great, easy to use program that allows you to convert such files like MPG's into MPEG-4, the format that the iPods accept.

convert those files to mpeg4 format which is recognized by ipod.

Many program works on it. As far as I know, Total Video Converter is more simple and power-full.
