I had a great job for 8 years and it came to an end. My wife and kids have been very patient and understanding, but Valentines day is coming and I wont have "squat" after bills are paid. Id like some ideas on what I could do, make, or even get her. She deserves more than I could ever buy her.....I want her to know how much she means to me!

Spending time with her- maybe have your mom or her mom or someone babysit the kids for free and just have a romantic picnic- you can make the meal at home and find a nice place with a view to walk to and have a picnic.. Give her a day off from the kids. Also writing poems or a song for her--- sometimes cheesy but really nice is make a mixed CD of music from when you met her to now.. or even a CD of pictures and music- if your computer has those capabilities (maybe youcan find a friend that can help you) - there are lots of places to go that are free!

That's so sweet. I'm sure she will be understanding of your situation and would just enjoy your company for the special day. Give her a nice long massage. (Maybe even a bubble bath for two!) Take the family out on a picnic, if weather permits. A single rose or an exotic flower will be a nice gesture. My dad gets my mom, sister and I a single rose each Valentines day. It's fun even if it's a bit cliche'.

There are many things you can do for your wife without spending money. If my husband made me a card and wrote something special(or wrote anything), I would keep it a lifetime, unlike a store-bought card that doesn't mean so much. So, make your wife a card. I would also like for my husband to cook dinner and clean up the mess. Cooking dinner is nice, and my husband occasionally will do it. I don't know about you, but my husband is messy when he cooks and I would appreciate him cleaning up afterwards. (Otherwise, I would rather cook myself.) If you can't cook, follow an easy recipe...no recipes...look online for easy ones. Light candles for dinner (including the kids should be fine too). If you put some effort into showing her that you want to do something for her, she should feel how much you care.

1.How about a beautiful card that tells her how much she means to you. Followed by a romantic candlelight dinner that you prepared yourself.

2. You and the kid's could get together and make homemade valentines for your wife. And bake some cupcakes that the kids can help decorate.

Marriage is a two way street. Why don't you help her loose weight by supporting her instead of telling her you are going to dump her if she doesn't loose weight. Why don't you work out with her? Chances are there is something about you she doesn't like, but she doesn't want to hurt your feeling. Why don't you show her some respect by helping her instead of treating her like crap. I think you are just looking for an excuse to get out of the relationship that way you don't look like the bad guy.
