The The was a pretty popular alt band in the 80's. They had a lot of songs, but the one that comes to mind most quickly for me is the "Beat(en) Generation". Check out iTunes or another music site. They'll have info on them.

Well, based on what you like already, I'd say look into some Ratt (get Out of the Cellar, Invasion of Your Privacy, Dancing Undercover, and if you like Quiet Riot, check out the new album Infestation. Carlos Cavazo is in the group now.), Maiden, Cinderella has some GREAT tunes, Accept, Whitesnake, Skid Row, Early Def Leppard, Scorpions, VAN ****** HALEN, Ozzy (solo), Tesla and maybe L.A. Guns. Reading the other posts, definitely go with some Metallica, Anthrax, Megadeth if you wanna go a little heavier.

Yes! The The from England. Really the project of Matt Johnson, who has been the only consistent member of the band. And - they're not just from the '80's. They've put out a record (NakedSelf) as recently as 2000. Johnny Marr (guitarist from The Smiths) played with them for a few years as well.

They had a bunch of singles - more of which charted in the UK than in the U.S. - but in the U.S. they had 4 charting singles (all in 1989 & 1990) - The Beat(en) Generation, Gravitate to Me, Kingdom of Rain, and Jealous of Youth.

Hope that helps.

Someone posted a video of The The's first UK hit single titled "Heartland". Maybe that will help you get an idea of their music.

They have switched musicians in the group over the years more times than someone asks "Why doesnt he like me?" on Y! Answers.

I remember a band called "them" but not "the the".

I remeber a band named "Who" was on First base, "Yes" was on second base and "The Guess Who" was on third...

I vaguely recall seeing them on MTV, but I don't remember any of their songs.

I do remember Talk Talk and Was Not Was.
