Hubby and I can't decide on a name for a girl. He's Indian (Hindu) and would like to preserve his heritage in her name...since she'll probably take her hubby's name when she marries (we live in the midwest folks).

His choice:
Rani Maria

My choice:
Maria Novella
Sylvia Rose

We both like Maya but it's so stinkin' common right now I really don't want a trendy name. Which do you like best? Do you have a better name - a compromise? Nothing outlandish please we have a very typical south indian name (kuppusamy).

SMS: Your link just referred me to a part 3 of a breastfeeding article by Dr. Sears. The same thing happened when I searched it. Do you have it cached or saved somewhere else?

Personally, I enjoy the name you picked out, Maria Novella. Since you two like the name Maria, you can have double middle names like Maria Rani Rose. But, if you two end up compromising, I suggest the name Rani Sylvia Kuppusamy. To me, it sounds blendy.

hey, my name is maya! but i was named it fifteen years ago before it was trendy lol. I like rani aria better, no offense, its really pretty and simple, not hard to pronounce for americans. I have some friends named nehika, and nazneen, and its always really hard for people to pronounce their name. Rani is really cute, and a little more modern. Definetly go with Rani. If not name her my=aya, its a beautiful name lol just kidding. Definetly Rani Maria. good luck! the combo if hindu and european is really cool by the way. :) if not, maanvi, Asha, um. idk

I love Sylvia Rose. But if he does not, perhaps you could compromise with Rani Novella? That's pretty!

Personally, I can see why your husband wants a specific name for the girl, I think you should do, like, Rani Sylvia, that way you both get your way, you aren't using the name Maria, and I like it.

if rani is pronounced ran-ee then how about :
amara rose
nalani novella
rani elaine
neveah rani
nalani rose
novella amara
ava rani
amaya rani
amaya maria

i like sylvia rose the best, but you 2 should just mix and match names, maybe you can find something you both like.
