Please dont slag me off, I feel bad enough. I am training with the Police Service. 6 months ago before training I got a fixed penalty notice for speeding. This led to a written warning from the Police. I got another fixed penalty tonight for speeding. So I have 6 points now and I will certainly get another written warning at the very least. 2 written warnings (which I have) can lead to dismissal.

One thing is I was injured during police training and was off for a year on full pay. So I've been employed by police for 15 months. My written warnings will no longer be in force when I complete my training - which is 5 weeks time. I am really worried I will be sacked. Please dont tell me I should no better or deserve what I get - I feel terrible.

Assuming your a UK cop you need to get in touch with your Police Federation rep as soon as possible to see what your options are.

I can think of worse things you could have done - but please be willing to own up to being a plonker, and slooww doowwn!

You're obviously full of contrition, if you have trained well and are strong in other areas I would think these things all count for you. If you think it is appropriate you could (after a few days to relax, so you don't appear to 'jumpy') go to see your 'manager' and discuss things.
I do wonder if your feeling terrible suggests you may be too sensitive for what must be one of the most difficult jobs, you'll have to face some very tough situations.
They may even think you're worth training to be a chase driver!

A guy near here was training to be a fire fighter. He went out one night and got drunk, was still drunk when he drove into some parked cars. No one was hurt, but he was scared of losing his job. He jumped into the river to try to get away. He drowned. What a waste.
Try not to worry, try to face it and hope that your facing up to it says more about your character than speeding does. Good luck

Your story is somewhat confusing so its hard to answer but don't sweat it. I knew many coppers in my time that were caught speeding but the worst that happened was that they were put on a refresher course in order to teach them to slow down more. Contact the Federation and discuss your options with them. It might help to admit to your mistakes in writing and plead for mercy with the Trainers and/or the Chief Constable. Mistakes happen and Coppers can make them to. The difference between you and the average villian is that you show a good degree of remorse but for the good sake of the Police SLOW DOWN and set a better example!

it don't look to good mate, they might use it as an excuse to offload you because of the amount of time you have been off. either way just be straight with them and you may be surprised, whatever happens you are still young enough to start elsewhere, so don't worry to much and good luck.

First of all, get yourself a Road Angel so you know where the speed cameras and radars are. Secondly, be prepared to eat humble pie. If you really want to keep your job you are going to have to convince them that you are really really sorry - no excuses, take the blame and apologise. You have to reassure them that this will not happen again however, you have to mean it. Everyone deserves three chances!! Good luck.

Speeding is a crime - what type of example are you setting? If you don't get sacked then you need to grow up fast - if you do get sacked - serves you right. I hate bent Coppers.

So you're in training to be a cop, and you speed...not thinking it would hurt you? Way to go.

You should KNOW better. You deserve everything you get. But good luck for the future. It's nice to know we're in safe hands.
