Do you not know what you have? It sounds like Internet Explorer 7, but surely you would know if you downloaded and installed that?!? Click on Start, Settings, Control Panel, Add/Remove Programs and the Show Updates box at the top. When the list loads, find Internet Explorer 7 and click Yes to remove it. After removal, close Control Panel and restart the computer for the change to take effect. It will revert back to IE6.

You can get Internet Explorer 7 to look like Internet Explorer 6. I would recommend trying this before deciding to go back to IE 6. Here is the article with step by step instructions on how to get the old look back:

"Relocate the menu bar in IE7 to the top of the window" -- written by Unhandled Perception (http://www.veign.com/blog/2007/02/relocate-menu-bar-in-ie7-to-top-of.html)

If you just want to change back to IE 6 then read the following.

"To uninstall Internet Explorer 7 to return to Internet Explorer 6 on Windows XP" -- written by Microsoft Support (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/winfamily/ie/iefaq.mspx)

To uninstall Internet Explorer 7 to return to Internet Explorer 6 on Windows XP

1. Click "Start," and then click "Control Panel."

2. Click "Add or Remove Programs."

3. Check "Show Updates" at the top of the dialog box.

4. Scroll down the list and highlight the version of Internet Explorer 7 that you are running, and then click "Change/Remove." (If you are running Internet Explorer 7 Beta 2 Preview — March 20 or later, it is not necessary to check "Show Updates.")

Select the appropriate version of Internet Explorer 7 for your operating system.
