I sometimes stop and think about how absolutely phenomenal the Earth is - the oceans, the mountains, the trees, grass, flowers - just the formation in general. Also, the huge variety of animals - from the tiniest ant to the largest whale. Isn't all so amazing? Isn't amazing how humans just work and click? How women and men just fit together perfectly, how we can reproduce, how we can talk, think and feel? I probably sound like I'm on crack to you guys but I just find it all so mind-boggling! Anyone agree?

Well there you go! Amazing! The whole YA community paused and held its breath! Just for a while there judging from the replies you got a whole lot of people to agree..the earth is indeed a beautiful and fragile place. We have a duty and a responsibility to keep it that way for ourselves and countless generations to come. We need to abolish war, injustice, disease, famine and poverty..then perhaps we could discuss the petty differences and issues we have over politics and religion

I kind of got a religious undertone from your question, with the man-and-woman comment, but maybe I'm just imagining this? (I'm not religious, but it doesn't matter either way if someone is). I know what you're talking about, I think about these things *all* the time, seriously. Well, not constantly. But it occurs to me on a daily basis. I've tried to explain to people who just didn't understand why my mind was so boggled sometimes when thinking about the cosmos, about life, about everything....you know when you think about something in that *different* way, in a way where you're not taking things for granted? I don't think many people think like that very often, and I'm not trying to be snobbish by saying that. Imagine the different levels of thinking as a pool of water - most people's mindsets are just under the surface when thinking about things like this that are outside themselves...but this mind-boggling stuff and amazement occurs several levels down. I totally get what you're saying, and I'm actually glad someone else shares my sentiment! :)

I have often thought of that exact thing when I look at the ocean or the trees in the Spring when they are coming to life after a cold and bitter winter.

The miracle of bringing a human being into the world and our entire life cycle. The intelligence and loyalty of animals. The devotion, love and generosity people can have for each other.

I'm with you!

I definitely agree, but I can never put it in words.

The other day I was biking and I just stopped to look at the full moon (in daytime) with a brilliant pink red sky behind it, and yellow/orange sky behind me where the sun was setting. And the sunlight was just casting over the clouds near the moon, turning them pink at the bottom and bright white from the moon above. Wow!

I love the variety of life on Earth, and how it has all evolved to fit in together and survive the changing climate around it.

Next time you see the moon, just look at it, its so bright, and you can see the craters on its surface, there it is hanging above us. Looks close enough to touch, but in actual fact its a huge rock hurtling round the planet miles above us. The same moon our caveman ansestors looked up on millions of years ago, virtually unchanged (besides a few craters here and there).

I totally agree!! Earth is full of weird and wondeful creatures. And has such beautiful landscapes that vary from one country to another. And I don't know if you have ever watched that Alan Titchmarsh programme - The British Isles - but it is amazing how the Earth has changed over millions of years! The Earth is spectacular. And it saddens me that we don't get to see the real beauty of the planet (I live in a city), and that we are slowly but surely destoying it!

Absolutely. I get amazed watching my mum's cats. I love the way you can get trees out of tiny seeds and acorns, I love plants so much. Humans fascinate and frustrate me. They can be totally amazing and completely f*cking stupid as well. I think modern society destroys people's appreciation of beautiful things like nature and the world. Oh and the stars too, they're pretty amazing. It annoys me that because of our stupid society, I can't get out there and fully appreciate stuff around me because I'm always stressed about money and certainly have none to travel. That so sucks

I totaly agree with you, its not often that too many think about life and earth in general, like you said about the largest animal to the smallest animals or just the human body period, how we are able to enjoy tasty foods and see beatiful things, how we have that quaility to love, just how are bodies work period is amazing!!
Have you ever thought why it all is so amazing, or where it all came from??

Lulu? Awesome. I think this stuff all the time and people think I'm weird, but whatever. I've always been like this. I was just thinking yesterday how amazing the human body is. I don't even have to tell my heart to pump, it just does.

Seems like we all agree!

I do think it's important to take time out just to look around and appreciate life. Who cares about the why?, the how? Sometimes you just have to open yourself up to it.

Thanks for your question!

I agree with you. I think it is important to take some time to appreciate all of it. If you like thinking about this kind of stuff, you should check out some philosophy books on existentialism.
