I would get off of the computer righ now and call a doctor. This sure sound like an infection to me, but I am not the expert, that is what the doctor is for.

Yes, you should call up your doctor. I'm disappointed in them for not discussing this with you. If it's past office hours, put in a call to their answering service and ask for a callback... this is something that needs to be addressed quickly.
