Let me see if I can explain it. You put it around your neck so the larger side hangs down a little longer than the thinner side. Take the larger side and wrap it round the thinner side one complete time, keeping it close to your neck. Take the larger piece in the front and tuck it down through the part you just wrapped around. Then you just push the knot up to the collar of the neck. Does this help?

Fat end is longer than the shirt end.
Let the F fall over the S end once and then bring the F end up through the loop you just made.
Then put the F end again to the left over the tie but this tome bring it down through the hole (that will form the V shape).
One last pass around the tie and when you bring it up through the loop insert the end in under the piece you just brought around.
