It is in religious schools, not in public government-funded schools.

No, schools should not preach religion as children belonging to different religion study in schools. Which religion they will preach? They should confine teaching moral values without emphasising on a particular religion. Religious preaching is the job of parents and other elders in the family.

I believe the answer is not as simple as it seems. Obviously, the public school system cannot be used as a platform for preaching one particular religion. On the other hand, I don't believe it is right to exclude all religion from school either. It should just be natural. For example, if a particular group of students, whether stamp collectors, chess players, Muslims, Jews, or Christians, should join together and ask for the use of a room after hours (or at lunch time) and if that were physically feasible, I think there should be no problem with that. If a teacher has a strong conviction toward a particular religion, he or she should be allowed to be genuine and transparent, not hiding their belief. But they should be held accountable in that they could not use their teaching position to push their beliefs on the students. For example, is a Christian teacher, or a Muslim teacher, should bring up a particular ethical question, they should be allowed to refer to their particular religious belief.
Also, outside of school hours, there could be an occasion in which the students could be invited, with their parents' permission, to attend a particular religious event held in the school. And that event could be advertised by the school. It's just that the school would have to be neutral in this.
Would the school then have to accept every religion and every religious event? No. Just religions represented in the student body, and they could perhaps limit it to one event per year. (If there were only one or two religions represented in the school, they could be open to something more frequent). Colmmon sense would need ot be used in this.
This is my idea of what is right or wrong. Not what the law says. In many countries it is illegal to have any relgious mention in the schools, In other countries, all public schools are of one particular religion, necessarily.

What we really need to preach is spirituality - and not religion. Spirituality is the Banana, and religion is the Banana skin.

Human beings are a species who can elevate their conciousness through meditation and by going deep with in, to gain access to this information, to be one with the cosmos. All enligtened masters like Buddha, Jesus, Nabi etc did that. They experienced this truth and later, their followers took some part or other from the talks of their masters, and thus religions were formed. When you meditate, you can synchronize your awareness with the cosmic being.

Spirituality is a state of being in present moment, being alert and aware, and provide caring and sharing for the entire world.

That is why, Indian Culture says - "Loka Samastha Sukhino Bhavanthu" - We should teach the spirituality with out color of religion in schools

Its ok provided the preaching is on multireligious lines not restricted to just one religion which leads to extremism.
Since every religion is based on HEALTHY principles there is no harm in preaching the good moral principles of one religion without comparing or insulting some other religion simultaneously.

Preaching religion in schools is not at all right. Because we can survive without religion but can't survive without the required education.

I don't feel PREACHING religion in schools is right. However, if they taught an informative and non-conversionary course on all the different religions (including atheism, agnosticism, etc.), that might be okay. But, it would have to be handled with care and tolerance.

Do you teach your children courtesy at school? Do you teach your teenagers morality? Do you teach ethics in university? If you do so, why are you questioning about preaching religion at school?

The most important is, that you should preach in proper manner. Do not be so forceful (otherwise they become defensive), do not teach wrong things, do not be arrogant. Respect others, and let them decide. Religion without consciousness is fake, and sometimes dangerous.

No. Religion should not be preached or taught in public schools unless it is majorly involved in the subject being studied, such as the Holocaust. As far as evolution and the whole controversy about that, no one knows that evolution did not occur. I am a Christian and I believe that it is very possible that evolution did occur. Who are we to say that it didn't? All the religious people out there, the Bible says that God created man in the image of himself. Last I checked, no one knew what God looked like. And no one knows how long seven days lasted then. Who is to say that God didn't create evolution?

I FEEL THAT IT IS THE RIGHT THING TO DO,

with a slight difference,
don't frighten the little tots with big names as religion, use OUR CULTURE in the present society.

I can think of a nice story when a householder wet to a learned man and requested to be initiated. the perplexed seer who did not want to offend the seeker, ordered some tea to be served to both, he started pouring the tea into the cup of the seeker and let it overflow, the seeker so what was happening and alerted the seer, that the cup is overflowing, The seer nodded in affirmation and said " In the same way till me will it not overflow the cup of your brain If I started now (at this age of your's when your cup is already full, It will take me a life time to first empty your cup to fill it with learning that can lead you to realisation.)

Kindly not that this does not mean that we should not try or start in this life at any age, it only means that it is easier to fill the beginner's cup that the householder's.

Depends on how you define religion and what you teach/ preach.
Everyone should be taught about God but as an omnipotent, omnipresent power not described in any form or assigned a name.
