danielpauldavis is right except that he got the Helium mixed up with Hydrogen. He's probably smacking himself on the forehead right now. Nuclear fusion allows for Hydrogen (the smaller nucleus-one proton) to be mashed together to become Helium (the bigger nucleus with two protons). Only nuclear fission would allow for Helium to become Hydrogen and then it would be one Helium to 2 Hydrogen.

There is no chemical reaction that can turn hydrogen into helium. Chemical reaction do not change atoms.
To convert hydrogen into helium is a nuclear reaction, fusion to be exact.
The first link will give you a few reaction, some of which combine to give the proton-proton reaction that powers the sun (see second link also)

Ummm.. That is impossible. Hydrogen and helium are both atoms in the simplest form and therefore can not be change by a simple chemical equation/reaction.

4 simple hydrogen nuclei turn into a helium nucleus plus a couple of electrons and electron anti-neutrinos. If you are lucky enough to start with heavy hydrogen, there are simpler reactions with more practical cross sections.

Not really chemistry exactly, but there you are.

It isn't chemistry; it's nuclear physics.

Two Helium (He) are fused under intense heat and pressure (such as, say, a star would produce) into one hydrogen (H), losing a small amount of mass in the process. By Einstein's famous E=MCsquared, that mass (M) produces energy (E) equal to itself times the square of the speed of light in centimeters/second. Tiny amount of mass, HUGE number. Thus are suns kept lit.

It takes more than chemisty, it takes physics to change elements, like a big bomb!
