My 7 week old just got a red bumpy rash on both sides of her face. What in the world could this be? Haven't changed formula, detergent, etc.

Does it look like little pimples? If so, it's probably neonatal or baby acne. It's very common - most babies do get it. It's harmless and not bothersome to the child - it just looks ugly. Keep it clean and dry and don't use anything on it like lotions or creams or anything, it won't help and it could make it worse. It does go away on it's own. Sometimes it gets worse before it gets better, but it goes away! (I've seen babies with it from the middle of their chest, up on their face, over their head, and down their back.) All it is is the baby's body adjusting to the outside world and being outside the womb.

Now, if it's not this, she needs to see the doctor, since rashes are nearly impossible to diagnose without seeing.

My daughter had a HORRIBLE case of baby acne and it really got bad around 7 weeks. My dr. told me to put baby lotion on her face a couple times a day. Not too much, just enought to keep it lubricated. Her skin is just fine now. But to be on the safe side definately have your dr. take a look.

it could be eczema, my son had a mild form on his cheeks and he would rub it because it itched..... the doctor gave me some cream. The only way you will know exactly what it is, is go to the doctor. Her 2 month appt is coming up so bring it up then.

Take her to the pediatrician. It could be just baby acne but it could also be something more serious.
