I mean, it doesn't have to be spot on, but sometimes it's so hard to read a question that I just click out in shame. Are kids really getting dumber or has there always been this many mentally challenged people on the planet and I was oblivious?

Exactly, their spelling is so unbelievably bad that you feel bad and if you mention it your somehow the bad guy. That's if the person can construct a single thought in an organized sentence that can be understood .

Yes!!!! It's not just kids. Allegedly grown people either can't spell or are just too lazy to use the spell checker. And don't get me started on poor grammar usage. By the time you reach the third grade, you should be able to put together a halfway decent sentence. What is so frickin' hard about subject-verb-object?

Ha ha, if you had ever seen a memo or patrol order that good old Sergeant Smith did, you'd have no doubt as to why law enforcement lost the O.J. Simpson case. He is super country acting and spells thte same way. It is hilarious in a very sad way. He used to spell further "futher" just like his hillbilly behind sounded it out!

Not so much embarrassed for them as I am annoyed by the self righteously over educated anal Einsteins who make fun of them, because they themselves don't have the ability to sound something out or the compassion and give someone a break.

Not embarrassed...just annoyed. It's called Spell Checker for a reason.

People are getting dumber. In six generations or so of American presidents, we've gone from The Gettysburg Address to "They misunderestimated me."

I just can't believe how many people there are who don't know how to spell. I don't like to correct people, though, so as long as I can make out what they're trying to say I just muddle through.

Maybe it's not their first language, and they want to ask questions, but other people won't be able to read non-english.

They could ask in their own language, but maybe more people on here speak english, or they could be asking "native speakers, how is my english?"

It's not the end of the world...pick on handwriting (or the lack) of today's typing generation. ;)

I'm not embarrassed for the person as much as I'm worried about our society in general. Misspellings happen, but some of these postings are ridiculous. Personally, I can't stand all the abbreviations. That is laziness to me.

Like du u now wat I meen?
