Um, sorry to inform you of this but democrats are the majority now, thanks to the lovely job GWB has been doing.
I moved to a red state from a blue state and it is about 20 years behind Northern Standards. Trying to find a good hard working contractor who won't rip you off or isn't on drugs down south is like trying to find a someone down here who has never had grits. It's impossible.
As far as housing goes, yes it is cheaper but the quality, again, is far below the standards of blue states. The only thing better about the southern red states is the weather. Sorry, but it's true.

"Despite there failed record."
Failed record? You mean the one where our politicians make the economy run more smoothly and where it grows in gigantic bounds as a result?
Sorry, I looked for this "failed record" you speak of... it doesn't exist.
"Highest taxes, highest home prices (no affordable housing)"
We have the highest average income as well.
"most dependent on government"
PSST! I'll tell you a secret... come close.
The red states benefit the most from our higher taxes. The red states are statistically more dependant on the government than we are.
"most traffic"
Umm.. ok?
(sidebar: Many blue states are original colonies. We have "legacy" road planning... meaning traffic suffers because some main road in the late 1700s doesn't make a good throughway.)
"Your BLUE state values are NOT the values most Americans would agree with."
The last election says you're wrong.
"Sorry."
Apology accepted. Don't do it again.
"Why do LIBERAL BLUE states, the minority, believe there better?"
I can only speak for myself, but I don't believe I'm better... I know I've a better education, though.

You know I disagree with your premise. I know people all over the country. Republicans, Democrats, Liberals, Conservatives and Independents. What I find is that people are basically the same all over and the majority are pretty close to the center in their beliefs. What I find amusing here though is all the people who just couldn't wait to dive down into the slop with you and start talking bad about the red states. The fact that they cannot see the hypocrisy of their own words is just too rich. Everyone who posted a generalized negative comment should be ashamed of themselves. We are supposed to be a united people. It is okay to dissent against each other politically, but the petty name calling and stereotyping is exactly what is wrong with this country today and neither side has a monopoly on it. The blue states are not better than the red states and neither is more advanced or enlightened.

It's because of "their" exceptional spelling.
Anyway - I live in Texas, the only state to ever be it's own country.
We have the most oil, a seaboard port, Austin (indie music captial of the world) and enough livestock and crops to sustain ourselves should we ever lose foreign imports.
I am a liberal democrat btw just like the wide majority of people in my city (Austin). And yes we do feel like we are better educated, have more world travel and broader experience than someone say from Beaumont (sorry Beaumont just using you as an example)....
All the points you made, housing, taxation, traffic?, are economic indicators of demand. That's a good thing.
And most dependent on Government is a flat out lie.
The majority of welfare checks are going to unemployed white Americans in the midwest who's factory jobs were outsourced by conservative fatcats - and have 3+ kids (perhaps in a trailer) and no opportunity to make money.
The lucky ones such as farmers - great people but come on let's not bring up agricultural subsidies!!!!
You sir are incorrect and making gross assumptions about what values actually are. Sorry.

...this is why I am glad I don't live in the States. Too much acrimony. Hell, I may be more left of centre than you, or even the current government (in both Canada and in the US) but I don't go around bashing the supporters of those parties.
I believe the definition of "values" differs from person to person and your question highlights that. For some, their level of taxes does not matter in the least and is not a value. To you, it matters, and I do not fault you for it. But for the single Mom who struggles daily with food stamps, getting a little government help is more important than the percentage of sales tax, or how much income tax she must pay (and if she is that poor, she pays nothing anyway). -- I should add that this is not meant to say all single mothers vote for Democrats, or use government assistance, but that is the example that sprang to mind, so kindly do not take offence.
The values that I hold dear? How I treat someone else and how they treat me. Economics be damned. That being said, those are values I hold and I do not expect anyone else to ascribe to those values.
I suppose what my response is meant to say is - keep an open mind . Your values are not shared by others, and their values are not shared by you. Why that makes them a target of attack I do not understand.

no longer probable. See, the actual purple states are those that make the nutrition, have the family members oil and have many of the generating and processing vegetation. on an identical time as the blue states do have a number of that it's not almost sufficient to take care of them. Now i will adress your "needs" i want well-being care reform too, yet i do no longer want the Obama plan because of the fact it would not reform "healthcare" and would not adress the excuses for the increasing costs. All his plan does is rigidity human beings onto the government plan, in fact all and sundry could now have medicaid... and in case you are able to arise with the money for the suppplements right for you. there is not any tort reform, or coverage reform or pharmaceutical reform in the bill. All it does is enpower the government. there will be NO opposition to rigidity down costs. (merely like making motor vehicle coverage mandantory did no longer rigidity down that value). what's the frenzy to get a bill thorugh NOW!!!? well-being care has been this sort for an prolonged time... we could take it sluggish to be certain that what's delivered forth isn't worse than the present equipment.

See, I was going to let that last question go without an answer. I'm a liberal because I don't hate people, nor do I profile them - I try to see every side of the issue, not just what pertains to me - I use understanding and thoughtfulness with others because that is how I'd like to be treated. I don't lump all people together because they disagree with me nor do I say that all republicans are redneck, old white men who want to control the economy and consider anyone else not in their league cattle. I'm glad to be a liberal and will continue to fight for my friends and neighbors well being no matter what they believe.

Well darling we are better. I live in New England, this is where the country started.
What better area to follow? CT has a great economy, a budget surplus in the hundreds of millions of dollars, great highways, wonderful towns, low crime rate, expensive as all hell to live, but so what, get a good education and a good job and you are all set.
Oh and to top it off we are open minded enough to allow civil unions. The blue states really do have it right.

PS - in your question, "the minority, believe they're better", not "there".
In your next sentence, "Despite their failed record", once again, not "there".
Why is it that people in this country don't know the difference? Same goes for "your" and "you're".
Um, I would hazard a guess that blue states have the most traffic because the lots and lots of people live there? Must be popular places, huh?

Well actually before a Republican president came into office our country had a surplus now we have billions of dollars worth of debt. So now Democrats are starting to take over the Government. Sorry but you are wrong.
