I love it, there sure are a lot of nay sayers on here. I go to Las Vegas for 2 weeks at a time, 2 or 3 times a year and have for over 20 years. I'm not burned out on it yet. You actually can do things in Las Vegas other than drink, party, gamble and chase women/men 24 hours a day.
If you work at it a little you can keep costs down. I go on the cheap by going the slowest times of the year. You will want to avoid special events and large conventions, they drive room prices through the roof.
Without knowing the date you plan to be in Las Vegas trying to estimate hotel cost is nearly impossible. I have stayed in a 3.5 star hotel in Las Vegas for 10 nights at $15 a night(yep even the weekend) then the next week they had $300 rates per night...It's not unusual at all to see $49-$59 rates one week then $250-$300 the next. >please "add details" to your Q , when are you going? what's a fortune? what's cheap? what's reasonable? what's your idea of fun? What amenities are you looking for in a hotel? How important is location to you, and do you have a location picked out?
I would prefer to calculate how to save you money, and get the most for your money. > I know that we work at it a lot harder than most, we plan all year and keep constant watch on hotel rates. We also plan each year to go at the slowest times of the year to take advantage of the extremely low rates. On top of that since we have 4 hotels that regularly comp us rooms that makes a big difference. We stayed for 14 nights in December the rooms cost up $190(inc taxes) we paid for 7 nights, took 7 free, we could have had 5 more free nights we just didn't want to change hotels 2 more times. So we stayed 9 nights at the Orleans, 3 nights at LV Hilton and 2 at Main Street Station. Our air was $137 each, we could have done better but we missed out on the special($98). So we paid $464 for air and hotel(14 nights), even if you double the room rate we paid to compensate for the comp rooms, that's only $654 total...This is not a one shot deal, we usually are able to do close to this every year in December, sometimes better, sometimes not.
We are already holding rooms for May-June and December this year, with room rates we find online. 10 nights at Gold Coast for December 16th-26th($244 inc taxes)>rate found on travel worm 1/24
> and we have 11 nights(3 hotels) in May-June at ($427 inc Taxes)We will work around them with comp nights when they come in. We hold rooms when we find a good rate at a hotel we like, then we keep looking for better deals, we can always cancel.
I'm just pointing out what's possible, it's also possible to spend $1200-$1500 , or more on 3 night weekend at a 5 star hotel in LV..Just with minimal care in planning you should be able to get a nice hotel room in the $60-$125 a night range, yes I know that's a big spread, $60 for a 2 star, $125 for a 4 star...14 nights = $840-$1750
A bus pass runs $5 a day, the CAT/Deuce bus will take you anywhere in the valley.

If you ate at mid-range buffets 3 meals a day it would run you about $30 each per day. My fav buffets for food/value Orleans, Main Street Station, Palace Station.

I and others I know find that Las Vegas is better in short doses. I usually spend two nights, after that, I get bored with the place.
Why not split it up with Vegas and LA or NYC, where there is never a shortage of things to do. How much gambling can you do?
Southwest.com, hotwire.com, expedia.com have package deals, usually for 3 days. Believe me, that's the optimum amount of time.
$: Your room for two weeks, average $100 per night, depends highly where you stay, lots of nice places, lots of dumps also.
Food, $50 plus per day, entertainment, $50-$200 depending on the show, or what you do and drinks as well. There aren't even that many good shows in a good month to see over the course of a two week period. Rethink this, I say.
Plus, winters there are brutally cold, I prefer the summer, at least then you can break up the day by doing the pool/ spa thing.
I love going to Vegas, but if I spent two weeks there, I'd be going crazy.

Two weeks?? Are you out of your mind? Okay. You asked for it.
Hotel room on the Strip for 14 nights: $2086 plus taxes (most of them average $149 a night - counting the cheaper weekday rate and more expensive weekend nights)
Meals: Average $75-100 a day for three meals ($10 for breakfast, $15 for lunch, and $40 for a nice dinner) = $1050 - $1400
Renting a car: $300 for a compact
Cab rides: average $15 a pop
Show tickets: $90 each is the average price for the big rooms,
double that for Celine or a show like that.
You're going to spend about $5000 minimum for two people -and that's if you don't eat at the top notch restaurants and only see one show. And that's if you don't spend a dime gambling!

Been to Vegas several times. Can't imagine spending 2 weeks there but you could take a trip down to Hoover Dam and see Mead lake. Go out an scout around in the Desert as there interesting things to see. As far as food use to have a cheap Steak and eggs deal for like around $ 5.95 and of course there is McDonalds and all the rest.
Gosh I think if it were me I'd cut the stay back some.

While I wouldn't suggest a 2 week trip to Las Vegas, you should take advantage of your longish stay to make good deals on lodging. Google 'extended stay las vegas' to get good ideas.
For two weeks, if you stay in an efficiency unit off the Strip, you could pay as low as $70/day ++ for a prepaid reserved room in 'midtown'. You would probably enjoy yourself more at a Strip hotel. You would probably average about $200/day for a great room. Food, of course, will vary all over the place. You could eat well for $50-$100pp/day. Ask for referrals for great restaurants off of the Strip. For a shorter stay you could skip the rental car but you are going to need one. $600 would probably get you a 12 day rental, + gas +tax of course.
You may tire of the casino scene in a few days and should get out of town to see Hoover Dam, Lake Mead, Red Rock Canyon, and Mr. Charleston. All of these are low/no charge visits.
Total costs less gambling and alcohol $4200 pp sing. occ. $8000/cpl.

Thid id going to be extremely hard, TRUST ME! We just came back Tuesday, and we were there for 6 days. there are plenty of outlet mall, casinos, buffets, and things to do. I suggest the gondola ride at the venetian hotel, club opm in caesar's palace, if you shop go to the outlets, because the shops connected to the hotels consist of stores on a very high end (Fendi, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, etc.) also, go to Madam Tussauds Wax museum, drive to the hoover dam (about 20-30 minutes away). Walk up the strip to get coupons to buffets from the weirdos passing them out on the street (you'll need them because buffets for two people start at like $30 for the cheaper hotels) go into free bars within the hotels, and keep in mind that as long as you sit at the machines in the casino, you get free drinks all night and day long. just play the penny machines! Oh yeah have a great time!

Why are you going to spend 2 weeks straight in Vegas? I think the average person on a budget would get bored two weeks straight in Vegas. I go for like a 5-7 day max trip. You can always go back.

You're going to the wrong place. I spent a week there and spend several thousand dollars. I'd recommend a much shorter visit and just plan on picture taking and walking around the strip. Don't forget to watch the fountain show.

Yes take a short trip. 4 day packege deals are $350-$600.
Hotels are $35 and up, Luxor is $69 and up. Madam Tussauds Wax museum ($12) and Hover Dam are cheap things to do. Otherwise, various shows are $50+ each. Depends what you want to do.
