Separate into parts. First part x(x-8), second part 2x(x-3)
Multiple to get simple forms.
First part= (x)2 - 8x
Second part 2(x)2 - 6x
Apply minus sign=(x)2-8x-2(x)2+6x (two negatives make a positive)
Simplify = (x)2-2x (x squared minus 2 x)

Hope this helps.

MCB gave a very good explanation of the steps, but I think she made a mistake at the end. I think you had x^2 - 8x - 2x^2 + 6x. The x^2 - 2x^2 gives you a negative x^2, not positive. So the answer would be -x^2 - 2x.

x(x-8)-2x(x-3)

This almost looks like a factoring problem at first, but since both #'s in the parenthesis aren't the same, I have no idea... it would be easier if i knew if it had said "factor" "solve" "solve by completeing the square" or whatever it said...

but it is fairly simple

first, use the distribution property
it would be:
x(squared)-8x-2x(squared)+6x

so you just combine the x(squared) and the -2x(suqared) because they're both x(squared)
and then you combine the -8x and the 6x because they're both x

if i'm right (which i'm probably not) it would be -x(squared)-2x

Another approach:

Factor out x:

= x[(x-8) - 2(x-3)]

Distribute 2 over x-3:

= x[x -8 -2x +6]

Combine within parenth:

= x(-x -2)

Factor out (-)

= -x(x+2)

x(x-8) - 2x(x-3)

First you distribute.

x^2 - 8x - 2x^2 + 6x

Then you combine like terms.

-x^2 - 2x

And you have your answer.

Hope that helped =)

sportsluvr209 is correct; the answer is -x^2-2x; jerseygirl didn't distribute the (-) to her 6; the last term should be +6x :)

x(x-8)-2x(x-3)
1.x^2(squared)-8x-2x^2+6x

2.CLT
-X^2-2X

it cant be simplified anymore so thats your answer
now im not so great at math..lol but i hope that helped

x^2-8x-2x^2-6x---distribute the x and 2x
-x^2-14x---combine like terms
