Tell you the truth, No virus or ad-ware scanners... They tend to slow down even a XPS Dell computer. Basicly, you need a good processor and RAM, More RAM , the more things that can be running. RAM Has different speeds depending on what kind. Normal DDR ram has for example 2700 and 3200. Obviously, the larger number is better and faster. Same with processors, bigger the number, the better. Also, if your hard drive is god-awful full, get rid of some things. Run a defrag and a scan disk from right clicking my computer. If those don't speed it up, something is terribly wrong. RAM doesn't cost that much so, check on "http://www.crucial.com/uk/systemscanner/ " to see what RAM you need and how much can be put in your computer (Installing RAM is easy... Just by looking in the computer you should know). Thats about all i can say.. Good luck man

Well if you just want to make programs start faster and have your computer be more responsice, and such the best thing to do would be to first upgrade your RAM. I always recomend if your not happy with your performance now then double the amount of AM you have and see if the performance is good enough. You could also upgrade your processor and videocard as well.

It depends on your current configuration. Write down your computer specification and tell us the main purpose for the upgrade so that we can help you better.

1st upgrade is always to increase Memory but I'm not sure if this applies to you as we don't know your computer specs.

#1 Add more ram.
Otherwise, a faster CPU, motherboard, faster RAM, a newer video card.
However, if you're trying to speed up a tortoise (an ancient computer),start saving for a new machine.
