If you don't wear your glasses even if you only have a slight perscription, then your eye sight will deteriorate over time. I 'started' wearing glasses during my early teens, but only ever wore them when i went for my eyes testing. I'm now i my early 30's and have to wear them all the time. Annoyingthing is that my optician told me that if i had worn them when i was younger it could have corrected the problem and i might not have needed them now!

Wearing glasses you don't need would damage your eyes. If you have been told to wear them then there is obviously a problem, and your sight is not as near perfect as you think. An optician should tell you whether you need to wear them all the time or only when reading, writing etc. The reason for the difference between the two is the same as for any other parts of the body. Whatever the cause of the vision problem it's worse in one than the other.
The only thing I can suggest is choosing different frames next time you get new glasses. I doubt they really make you ugly, you are just not used to them. If you don't wear them, the straining and squinting you do will give you wrinkles and bags under your eyes and then you will look ugly!

If you wear glasses and don't actually need them then it would hurt your eyes, or if you used glasses meant for seeing long distance for reading close up, then it would damage your eyes. But the optician wouldn't have given them to you if you didn't need them, and glasses do usually give you headaches for a little while just because you're not used to it. It does get better!
Plus, most people think they look worse in their glasses than they actually do, so try not to worry!

I think if you've been told by an option to wear glasses for reading or watching TV then you should. I'm not sure of the reason that one eye can see better than the other, but I know that my left eye is weak so my right eye has strained itself trying to compensate for it. I need to wear glasses for reading, watching TV or if I need to focus on anything. I know my answer isn't an answer as such to your question but it interested me as it's similar to my eye sight problem .and I was really just identifying with you.

only wear your glasses when you feel that you need them. wearing glasses too often can make your eyesight worse.....my dad got glasses a few years ago for driving but he wore them too much and now he has really strong ones he has to wear all the time!
dont worry, noone has perfect eyesight.our sight deteriorates naturally with age.....thats why so many old people wear glasses lol!im sure you will get used to your glasses with tme...its just a case of getting used to them. if after a few weeks you still dont like them try going to the opticians with a friend....a good friend will help you chose the right pair!

Hi if you have been to the optitions if there was nothing wrong with your eye sight then they wouldnt of told you to wear glasses. and yes if you dont wear then your eyesight will get worse. I dont know how one eye sight can have better than the other but all i know is that most of my family wear glasses my mum wears hers all the time and her eyesight doesnt get much wors eor better. But when my dad went to the optitions he should always glasses she told him off because he hadnt been wearing them and his eye sight has go worse that it was the last itme he went. So he wore them from then on and his eye sight has imporved so they say. So if you dont want to wear glasses then get contacts, or if your not wearing them you will get worse eye sight than you have now.
I know this one girl who i use to go to school with she wore glasses and they where massive dead thick and one day she decided not to wear them again. and all she did was squint all the time and i was amazed she could even see at all. So if you squint without them then you should wear them as a squint is not a good look makes you look evil.

if you can see without the glasses even for whatever it is recommended then don't wear them. I was given glasses when i was 6 and i decided to wear them all the time bcos they were so "cool" and now im 18 and have to rely on them all the time. You can get away with not wearing them but if your vision does seem to become more blurred then go see the opticians and where them for whatever they recommend you to. Specsavers have nice glasses.

Almost ?
If you can see properly then it's bad to wear glasses.
If you can't - go see an oculist before the sight gets worse.

Prescription glasses are to correct bad vision. If you wear them while having good vision then you will be harming your vision. You're eyes aren't connected to each other. They are two different body parts that work together or separate. If one eye gets damaged doesn't mean the other will be the same. Don't mess with your vision. It's too precious.

Get your eyes checked again. Wear your glasses if they are prescribed, or contact lenses. Human physiology isn't perfect, so one eye may develop differently from the other one. This condition may have been inherited.
If you drive, and you need to wear your glasses, then don't risk it and persevere. Good Luck!
