Grammatically, it is still correct to say so and so and I. However, it's just not used by most people. It's one of those things. Some people also think you sound posh when you say I instead of me.

Using "I" or "me" depends on the sentence structure.
Bill, Bob, and I went to the store.
Jack took me, Bill, and Bob to the store.

Generally, the rule is if you would use 'me' if you weren't including another person, that's what you use and if you would have used 'I', that's what you use.
For example ... The boss showed (Tracy and) me how to do it properly.
and
(Kevin and) I decided to go to the town.
