My mom won't let me listen to them!! BECAUSE OF OUR STUPID RELIGION. By the way my mom doesn't know I'm on this so SHH! How can I convince her to let me? She got mad because I was listening to this one song and he said "I just want to be with you tonight" Or if they curse she took my posters down to! I like watching 106 & park I b elieve in got and stuff but NO FAIR MAN!!

This Type Of Thing was kind of the same with me. She never told me I couldn't listen to it but she said " You know there is much better music on then this" or " I'm not a big fan of this music" So what I did was when ever she was gone or not in the car I would Crank The Hip Hop and Old School Rap ( i'm a Radio DJ) For your case just listen to it. If she says stop just turn it down or listen to it on head phones.

People can't say rap and R n B is bad for kids, no matter what message it sends out if you know the difference between right and wrong it won't influence you. I had my first rap cd (Eminem) at about 10 or 11 and it never influenced me to do anything terrible!
Try tell your mum this or just talk to her about why you think it is unfair and how everyone has their own tastes. If that fails and your Christian go for Gospel rap, i'm not religous but some of the Gospel rap is pretty good! She can't argue with that!
Or just get an MP3 player and tell her you got all the stuff she likes on it!

You probably won't be able to convince her, parents always think they know best. If you do want to give it a shot on convincing her though, show her (not tell her) but show her that you are mature enough to handle those type of lyrics. Reassure her that you are not going to do what those lyrics are saying and that you completely understand that music is for entertainment purposes. If that doesn't work you can always sneak, but don't get caught. The consequences may not be worth it. Good Luck!

I know where you're coming from. Parents (religoius ones) can really lay expectations out there for kids that are really wild. Talk to her about it and see if you can't get her to understand. It's not like listening to the stuff will make you go out and have sex any more than hevey metal music will make kids worship the devil or kill people.
Tell her that you are in control of yourself and just like the music. You're not worshiping it ~ you're jamming to it.
Parents like that are the ones that usually end up with drug addicted kids.

whats your religion i guess when your older and can support yourself then your are allowed to make your on decisions because a lot of persons out there has change their religion as they got older but dont woory the time will come when you can listen freely its just a matter of time keep it kool for now or but you can try toexplain to them how you fell about not being able to listen to different music and maybe they will realize someday

I totally agree with your mom, i dont let my daughter listen to that stuff either. your mom is probably using religion as an excuse. thats probably ONE of the many reasons why she disagrees with the messege that sort of music puts out. i do not allow music or movies that cuss in my home, cause i dont want my children to think that cussing is ok with me. Also most of the stuff rap and r&b sings about is vey inappropriate. SOME of it is ok but most of it is either nasty,disrespectful or has vulger language. she is just looking out for you cause she knows that a teens mind is easily influenced.
