Two reasons: athleticism and differences in styles of play.
The NBA is much more physical and faster. If you're not really tall or really fast, you're at automatic disadvantage. You may be an excellent shooter and overall very intelligent on the court, but that rarely is good enough anymore when you're having to defend someone who is either lightning quick or who will abuse you in the post.
Also, players get to choose which college they go to, so they know what to expect in terms of style of play and how they will work with the coach. They don't get to choose where they go in the NBA, so they may wind up at a place where the style of play and coach are much different than college. Basically, these players may have thrived as a product of the system they got to choose by selecting their NCAA school. (Same with football too!)

I think most successful college players become mediocre in the NBA, regardless of race. It's just that there are fewer good white college players in the first place, so it becomes a numbers game. On a percentage basis, it's probably the same across the board.

Because the NBA is no longer about "Team Basketball". It's not about passing and the like. It's about entertainment. It's about individuality and being able to create your own shot. Think about it.It's about entertainment. Why else would the NBA All-Star game go to LAS VEGAS? All your top players know how to "create their own shot" at virtually any spot on the floor. This sort of thing, creating your own shot, is not taught in college nor is it celebrated as much. Honestly, that's why I prefer college ball to the NBA. This is why Steve Nash and assist leaders are a rare breed. It's one of the reasons I like to watch the Suns - they pass the ball.
Also College ball is totally about beating the zone. And how do you beat a 2-3, 3-2, 1-3-1, etc zone? SHOOT the dam lights out. The NBA doesn't really allow the traditional 2-3, 3-2, etc zone. The zone in the NBA is an abbreviated zone because they want to keep the game moving. Kepp it fast and entertaining for the fans who paid $200 to come and get entertained.
Not to be racist but brothers by definition learn about shooting the ball later in life. Think about it. I'm sure you know about the "And 1" tour. It's about dribbling, cross-overs, dunks, and maybe a shot every know and then. In the inner-cities brothers aren't really developing their shot on the playgrounds as much as developing so "mad hops", because it's about "jamming the ball" in somebody's grill. It just gets the crowd going and hypes the game and also raises the entertainment value. You see the commissioner wants the NBA to be about entertainment. So pure shooting isn't entertaining enough. That's why the "AND 1" tour isn't mostly about shooting mechanics, although those dudes can shoot well, it's about entertainment. Dunks are more entertaining than shooting a nice set-shot.
Again I'm no racist just a student of the game.
In short that's why pure shooters of any race don't do well in the NBA. Hopefully no one is offended by my remarks.

Regardless of the race...college ball is completely different from the NBA. I think is has mostly to do with lack of confidence and the ability to adjust to the NBA. If they have a succesful college basketball career there alot of pressure and expectations to perform in the NBA. But the bottom line is that the style in the NBA is completely different, and if they had the desire to succeed they must work hard and continue to develop there game.

Because the NBA is too fast for them. It is hard to be a pure shooter and nothing else in the NBA and that is what most white college players are.

NBA has too much talent right now. And most of these teams have been playing together for years and coach don't want to mess the chemistry up but adding a new play to the rotation.

most white guys are not that athletic, strong enough to play with black guys, or they are skinny. they intend to be just shooters, unlike europeans, who can shoot better and slash much better than white guys, which give them little spot in the NBA. They should be kinda special to be and stay in the NBA.
