You should be able to move the locking "arm" far enough to open the door by sliding a putty knife between the cabinet and door gasket. Those locks are really not intended for security but more to help ensure the door stays closed and the kids stay out.

You could most likely obtain a new key from the manufacturer by going to their web site(WWW.BRANDNAME.COM) using their parts ordering feature. Be sure that you have the model number, manufacturer number if applicable and serial number if required..

You have the choice of either calling a Locksmith, or drilling it out with a driill bit of the appropriate dimension and a # 3 standard screwdriver. To drill it out, take a drill bit as big around as the slot in the lock is tall. Use a good drill bit as slow speed. Only drill in as deep as the key would go! You can use a bigger bit if you want. Then insert the screwdriver and turn the tumblers open. You may have to play with it, but it will work. Once it is open, then you can see if it is feasable to install a new lock with a spare key. Good Luck.

If locking is not important. Just grab the door by the edge and pull quickly. All freezers made for the last 25 have a plastic catch. This is a safety in the event a child gets locked in. They could kick the door to get out. The plastic catch will break.

It's very likely that if you gave the key number (usually found on the lock), to a lock smith, he can cut one for you. These types of locks are typical and very common.
