Any one know if there is a day that people commit suicide more often than other days?

Mondays - according to the British Office for National Statistics.
They studied 34,935 deaths between 1993 and 2002, and 16% of male suicides and 17% of female suicides took place on Monday - as opposed to 13% the rest of the week.
Suicides fell off during the weekend.
It didn't seem to only be related to starting a new work week - retired people showed similar statistics.
According to the same study, New Years Day 2000 was the worst day - more suicides took place on that one day then any other over the 10 year study.
Perhaps the reason is people are faced with the start of another week - birthday - year - and don't like what they are seeing.

Probably Christmas (eve or day) That can be a very sad time of year for many people--particularly if they have no friends and family left. To make it worse, that is the time of year (in the US) where the days are shortest, and nights are longest. This makes some people doubly depressed.
