I am an ex smoker (Yeah for me!) and cleaning the windows were tough. I tried windex but I had to go over them a few times. Eww. What worked the best and fastest for me was a sponge in soapy water like the window cleaners do. That was fast.

well to clean the glass the good old fashioned way with news paper. crumple up a page of news paper then add a little water to the news paper and wipe, when you see the paper starting to fall apart , just take another sheet, remember to wear gloves for this job as your hands will be stained with the ink from the printing. you can also add a small amount of vinegar to the water , they come up nice and shiny , as for the window frame´s you have´t said what they are made off wood, metal, PVS

I am in the cleaning business and here is our secret!
We buy this cleaning cloth off the internet. You have to buy in packages of 5 but they are only like $3 bucks a piece. I have ordered them and use them on everything, especially cleaning windows and clean mirrors. They are made out of tiny fibers. They are guaranteed not to scratch and all you do is rinse the cloth under water, wring it out and wipe ANY surface with no streaks or scratch. Use em over and over. I have not thrown one away yet!
I am sold on this ...I encourage you to try it out….hope this helps…Steve

Use vinegar and newspaper. The vinegar is a natural acid and it will eat the nicotine. The newspaper will work as a scrubber, but it won't scratch the window. You can also use alcohol, but I prefer vinegar. Good Luck! =0)

I don't know. What I would do is to get a window cleaner in to do it for me & let him do all the hard work, it will probably be worth paying him because dear know's what you will spend on cleaning products & then ask him the best way for keeping your window clean in the future. This should save you time, effort & money!!

Clean it first with vinegar and newspaper to cut the tar, then back over it with Windex. I had the same thing when I moved here.

soapy water. i smoke and it does build up on windows and mirrors. windex alone does not work it makes them look like crap. i use a little dish soap in a bucket of water with a rag, i usually have to go over it a couple times. then i follow with windex.i do that on mirrors and windows.
