What were people thinking electing an openly muslim indevidule to state rep of minnesota? And yet gays cant marry? whos thinkin this non sense up and how do we get them to stop?

No, that is one of Democracy's unfortunate loops.

Everyone is free to say do as they like in a Democratic country and you can not ban people because of their religion.

Here is the sad part:
Most these muslim countries have no respect for Christians and you don't find that many Christians in their governments.
Actually in the last 10 years things have become so bad in many of these muslim nations that a majority of Christians have left or are planning to leave their countries.

For example: Iran & Iraq

Why would anyone want to keep someone from holding an office because they were Muslim?? If a person meets the citizenship and other requirements for holding office, that's the end of it. And what in the world does THAT have to do with gay's not being able to marry? Circuitous reasoning at best.

No, there is absolutely no legal way to prevent Muslims from holding public office in the United States short of a full amendment to the Constitution (which I guarantee will never pass). Barring someone from holding public office because of their religion goes entirely against what America stands for as a nation of freedom and democracy. If you don't think a Muslim should hold office, don't vote for one. That's the full extent of your powers.

Just because someone is a Muslim doesn't necessarily mean they are terrorists. That's a stereotype and no, there's no way to legally keep a Muslim out of office because the basis of our country is freedom. Freedom of religion is covered under that and it's extremely close-minded to think that just because a Muslim holds office the country will fall apart.

Wow, your question is amazingly biggotted. You know, 50 years ago they were saying the same thing about Catholics and J.F.K. Did he turn the country over to the Pope?
75 years ago they were saying the same thing about Jews. Yeah, they really killed the country, too.

Your question demonstrates that you know nothing about Islam, or even want to know anything about Islam. By your logic, no Christians should be elected because the IRA in Englad committed acts of terrorism against the British government, because fundamentalists killed Matthew Sheppard, and because religious anti-abortionists have threatened and killed Ob/GYNs who perform abortions. There is a difference between extremism and mainstream faith.

Its OK to say don't vote for them, but I reckon there will be more Muslims in the UK( and possibly the USA) than the rest of us before long,

There should be a law against immigrants holding public office, but then that would get the "do gooders" on their high horses, shouting about human rights and freedom of speech, and all the other issues they seem to preach about,

how about this....
.
(1) No immigrants to hold public office.
(2) any do gooder who objects should be imprisoned for treason.
(3) All immigrants to follow the code of ethics of the country they decide to reside in, ( after all if we don't in certain countries they chop your hands off).
(4) There should be proper integration into the community,
(5) not more than two families to reside in the same locality,

I know i live in a dream world but hey !!!! if only

Christians carry maximum folk in this u . s .. This u . s .'s guidelines -- lots of them, if not maximum -- are Christian-depending; their origins lie in Christian theology. in the experience that they did not, for one element, there is NO situation everywhere with atheists holding public workplace, attesting in a tribulation, etc. for yet another element, there is NO situation everywhere with gay couples and lesbian couples being allowed to marry. And now, tries are being made federally to even undermine abortion and stem-cellular analyze. that's obviously Christian lawmakers who've had -- and nevertheless have -- topics with all the above examples. Ergo, that's Christian doctrine that has actually created -- and could likely proceed to create -- those negating guidelines. (i comprehend i'm positively going to get some "thumbs down" for this; yet I also comprehend that the actuality hurts.)

there is no legal way to stop someone from being elected based on religion.
furthermore, not all muslims are bad. many are born here and share all of our values and pride in this nation. you are generalizing and your fears are misplaced.

don't judge people as groups, only individuals. otherwise everything you say has no merit and you become just like another terrorist

Not all Muslims are Terrorists, just like not all Jews are Accountants, and not all Bhuddists are Asian. You just hold a view of people that is stereotypical. Don't Judge by the color of their skin or the theological ideas in their head but by their character.
