Biggest fear for you will be a possible infection for the system you want to add the drive to.
You can loosely add a second drive to any IDE setup just by adding it to the open IDE port and supplying power - to ensure that the new drive does not become the bootable drive change your jumpers on both drives from cable select - make the existing drive master and the temp drive slave - the added drive will most likely show as D: - run your scan on the D: drive - you might want to make sure your virus definitions are right up to date first and perhaps do a second scan of both drives from the free scan at www.antivirus.com to be sure you catch your bug good luck

You will have to disconnect the Hard drive from the current machine and then attach it to a new computer. You will have to change the jumper settings more then likely on the hard drive. The manufacturer of the hard drive should have a label or picture of the correct settings to set it as a slave. Connect that to the new computer, make sure that the boot order is set to the good hard drive and boot up. Scan away. Good luck....

You will have to remove the hard drive from the computer. Once removed on the back of the hard drive near where you connect the ata cable or sata cable will be a section of pins, and in this section of pins will be a small piece of plastic also know as a jumper You have to remove the jumper from its current setting, as each pin locations denotes a different setting such as master, which it is set to, or slave. There should be little letters near these pins to tell you what setting it is on and then you just have to move the jumper to the slave setting. Once the jumper is set in the right place you can now install the drive in a different computer for reformatting or whatever you have to do to it.

.
Hello friend.

Why do you need to "slave" it to another computer to clean it ???
Just go to AVAST and download their free
4 Home Edition
and let it do a "THOROUGH" scan of your hard drive while it is in your present computer. It will find the virus and give you the option to DELETE.

Get it free here:
http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html

It is a small program, NOT a ram hog
so keep it running on your machine all the time.

Hi. Just connect the power and data cables to the second computer and make sure the jumper is set to "SL" during the bootup and scan.
