i just went down the stairs and it was hurting to go down fast. i used the bathroom and i seen this clear thick goo? in my underwear and when i wiped. what should i do

Wait! You're not in labor yet. Mucous plugs can come out weeks before the baby is born.

Are you due ? I had mucus discharges once in awhile during pregnancy but when I went into labor nothing came out. I think the name "plug" is misleading. It doesn't keep the baby in at all ! Now, if you have a big sdoaking release ofwater go to the hgospital or midwife but the mucus plug is nothing at all just a misleading name for a part of the bith process. Good Luck ! PEACE.

It might be the mucus plug or it could just be discharge from all the hormones. Was it blood tinged at all? Are you having an contractions? Even if it is the mucus plug, that can come out weeks before hand, it just means the cervix is starting to soften. Relax!

Relax Mommy. It's very normal and you should consider yourself lucky because there are alot of women who totally miss the plug when it comes out and end up just flushing it away.
This doesn't mean that labor is going to start any time soon. If you don't have the baby soon, your body will produce another mucus plug.
Call your doctor and get in to see him/her for a pelvic exam if you're honestly scared about it.
I lost mine at 34 weeks last time and it wasn't until 3 weeks later that I had him.

Don't panic it's ok sounds like you just lost your mucous plug and that means your baby is getting ready and you could go into labor soon.

I lost my mucus plug an entire month before going into labor so do not panic. It could be next week or next month.

Is possible the amiotic fluid bag has ruptured or just some of the mucus that prevent the sperm from reaching the fellopian tube to conceive came out .

Call your doc and give them a heads up. It could be 24 hours or up to 7 more days before labor kicks in but it's a sign that it's drawing near. Relax and take it easy. You'll do fine.

you can lose your mucas plug and not go into labor. it can take a couple of days to go into early labor. you are fine and hang in there because the end is near. you can go to www.smartmomma.com and then click on pregnancy and it will tell you more.
