Unless there's a bona fide reason for you not to do your job while pregnant (firefighter, police officer, or other dangerous job), then you don't technically have to tell them until 30 days prior to maternity leave, though they'll probably figure it out on their own by then. You should probably wait at least 6 weeks so that you're better established at your workplace.

I had a very similar situation... I found out I was 5 weeks pregnant on my 3rd week at a new job. I waited to tell my boss until I got through the first trimester, which tends to be the point when most people start spilling the beans because you're out of the "danger zone" of miscarrying.

Since you're just about there already, I'd probably hold off until you've been there for about 3 months or so. If you wind up with crippling morning sickness though, you should probably let him/her know sooner than later so they'll understand why you may need to dash from your desk randomly, or even take the occasional sick day if it gets really bad.

Good luck and congratulations!

This happened to me too! I started a job and then 2 weeks later I found out I was 6 weeks pregnant. I didn't tell them until I was 4 months (so I knew there wasn't really a chance of miscarriage.) Congrats and good luck, and I hope your boss takes it well.

If this is a job that requires physical labor, you need to let her know immediately. Most employers have a trial period of 3 months to one year during which you are basically a temporary employee and can be fired at any time. Also, many states have "employment at will" in which you can be fired for any/no reason. Further, the number of employees dictates whether or not you can be given maternity leave.

Should you continue to be employed at this place, you need to give it 100%.

Most people wait until after the first trimester. Does your insurance coverage start right away? It may be important to mention it.. maybe they'll go ahead and start your insurance. I tried waiting until the first trimester was over, but someone had an illness (chicken pox) that was possible for me to catch since I never had it so i had to come clean a whole lot earlier than I wanted to. Good Luck!

I think the smart thing to do is not to tell your boss until you are done with the first trimester. After those months and that your baby is fine, go ahead and tell him but let him know why you did not tell him sooner.

Around 5 months... when you start showing, and have to change your wardrobe to accomodate your belly.

If you're having trouble with morning sickness... let your boss know what's going on so that he understands why you're constantly running to the toilet.
