I wasn't sure if I should make the bottles ahead of time and keep them cold or not? I was just going to put the formula in one of those plastic dispensers and bring the empty bottles so I wouldn't have to worry about keeping them cold, but can I do that? What's the best way to go? None of the security guidelines say anything about bringing just the powdered formula on board?

I don't mean taking prepared formula on the plane. NO LIQUID INVOLVED. Just the dry powdered formula and empty bottles!

You can take liquid or powder on a plane. if you are traveling with a baby, you are allowed to bring baby formula. you can choose whichever you prefer, the powder or the liquid.

Ask for sample sized powdered formula from your pediatrician - they should have it. (My worry is about the powder not being in the original container - they might give you a problem with it.) BUT, I think it's a great idea to bring the empty bottles and the powder and not worry about the liquid stuff. (Mix it on the plane with bottled water, and buy water when you get to where you're going - sounds like a plan to me!!)

Check with the airline.... but they do make allowances for baby formula. When you go through security... they'll probably check the bottles to make sure they're not some toxic liquid... they don't actually open them, just swab around them and in the diaper bag.

I have flown 3 cases with my daughter. I pre-measured the powder into bottles and then added a bottle of water alongside with me. in case you tell them the water is for the toddler's formula, they're going to allow you to're taking it by skill of, yet they're going to probable open it for sorting out. purely verify you do not take waiting to feed liquid formula by skill of, because they ought to open those and they expire after an hour.

if you're worried about being detained because you're carrying a vague whitish powder, they make single serving size packets of many brands of formula, they would be individually sealed, so you wouldn't have to worry about explaining what it is. And the flight attendants will give you water on the plane and even heat them for you.
