Hi NewMama

Here are some ideas to heal the issue.

Cause
Herpes simplex virus is the cause of herpes. HSV causes cold sores on the lips and in the mouth and genital herpes in, on or around the genital area. Although once you contract the herpes virus you have it for life, you can stop outbreaks. They can be controlled and in some cases eliminated.

Nearly all people experience cold sores at least one time during their lives. After the first attack, the virus remains dormant in nerve cells, and can be reactivated later by stress, colds, hot weather, anxiety, nutrient deficiencies, or other illnesses, especially ones with accompanying fever. Prolonged cold sore outbreaks may occur in people suffering from compromised immune function or in healthy people who are under high levels of stress.

Herpes zoster, Coxsackie virus, low thyroid, and health problems that suppress immune function can all contribute to cold sore outbreaks, and must be addressed before long-term relief can be achieved.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Natural Cures

Aromatherapy: Geranium, lemon, chamomile, tea tree, and/or lavender essential oils applied topically can help speed the healing process.

Diet: Eat a whole foods diet. Eat lots of fresh green salads, raw and steamed vegetables, cultured, fermented products such as yogurt and sauerkraut. Refrain from dairy products, sugar, white flour and other processed foods. Avoid citrus fruits, including pineapple. Buy organic whenever possible and please eat only organic animal protein.

Drink at least 1/2 your weight in ounces of pure water daily with either stabilized liquid oxygen added or water dispensed from an oxygen water cooler.

Flower Essences: The most useful flower essences for dealing with the accompanying emotional/mental stress of cold sores are Rescue Remedy®, Rescue Remedy Cream®, and Crab Apple.

Herbs: Herbs that boost resistance to cold sores by strengthening the immune response include the tinctures of Echinacea, Siberian ginseng, nettle, and goldenseal. Combine in equal parts and take 1/2 teaspoonful of this mixture three times a day. You can also externally apply diluted tincture of myrrh or calendula. Licorice root tincture applied topically has been shown to inactivate herpes simplex particles and inhibit the growth of the virus.

Hydrotherapy: Hydrotherapy is the application of water, ice, steam and hot and cold temperatures to maintain and restore health. Treatments include full body immersion, steam baths, saunas, sitz baths, colonic irrigation and the application of hot and/or cold compresses. Hydrotherapy is effective for treating a wide range of conditions and can easily be used in the home as part of a self-care program. Many Naturopathic Physicians, Physical Therapists and Day Spas use Hydrotherapy as part of treatment. I suggest several at-home hydrotherapy treatments.
*Purified water is essential for any hydrotherapy treatment. The section Remedies for Treating Chlorinated Bath Water offers clear instructions and recommendations.

Lifestyle: Manage stress and generally stay rested.

Nutritional Supplementation: There are many alternative cures for herpes breakouts. Choose from the following options. During times of outbreak L-lysine cream applied directly on the blisters, and L-lysine supplements (4 grams daily for the first four days, then 500 mg three times daily for two weeks) can also be taken orally. Or try Lysine in a fast acting tincture formula. Please note: Do not take L-Lysine on a daily maintenance basis, however, as it may create an imbalance among other amino acids. If continual daily lysine is the only way for you to prevent recurrent attacks, then you must make diet changes. First eliminate all wheat products, replace with other whole grains such as brown rice, quinoa, buckwheat (not a member of the wheat family) in your diet and decrease lysine into smaller dosages, use with a full spectrum amino acid blend. Also, ask your alternative health care practitioner about amino-acid profile testing.) Other useful nutrients to help prevent and treat cold sores are vitamin B complex, vitamin C with bioflavonoids, vitamin E, and zinc gluconate. Acidophilus and thymus extract can also help, as can the flavonoid quercetin, which has been shown to inhibit the herpes virus.

Note: The two amino acids that appear to be important in herpes infections are lysine and arginine. Arginine stimulates the growth and reproduction of the herpes simplex virus, while lysine inhibits it. What`s important is the ratio of arginine to lysine. The higher the arginine to lysine ratio, the more herpes virus is likely to grow. Conversely, if lysine is high with respect to arginine, the growth is inhibited. Chocolate, peanuts, most cereal grains, nuts, and seeds have more arginine than lysine.

Topical Treatment: Apply vitamin E ointment or saturate gauze with vitamin E oil and apply for 15 minutes over the area of outbreak.

BHT, a natural food preservative, added to an alcohol solution is another effective topical solution.

Fast Acting Herpes Protocol

This is the natural cure for herpes that Kevin talks about in the book. This protocol works best PRIOR to a herpes breakout, though you can get fast acting results once a breakout is underway by substituting food grade Hydrogen Peroxide for DMSO:

Purchase the following supplies, available at most health food stores or online sources:

DMSO*
Food Grade Hydrogen Peroxide
Laurea Herb
Red Marine Algae
Lysine
Calcium
Stabilized Liquid Oxygen

Apply a thin layer of DMSO to the afflicted area, the soles of your feet, and your low back three times per day. Do this when you first feel a breakout may be underway, before an eruption occurs. If you are already broken out, use Food Grade Hydrogen Peroxide instead of DMSO. Apply peroxide by dabbing area with a clean cotton swab.

Take Laurea, Red Marine Algae, Lysine and Calcium according to directions on label, twice per day. Look for Lysine in a fast acting tincture formula. These products can be found at a well stocked health food store.

Drink at least half your weight in ounces of pure water daily with either stabilized liquid oxygen added or water dispensed from an oxygen water cooler.

Eat generous amounts of fresh green salads, and raw and steamed vegetables. Refrain from dairy products, sugar, white flour and other processed foods. Buy organic whenever possible, especially when choosing animal protein.

Caution: When applying DMSO on the body use thoroughly clean hands and clean cotton swabs. Take care to be impeccable because whatever substance comes in contact with DMSO gel is absorbed quickly and driven deeply into the body. Avoid contact with dirt until the area is completely dry

Best of health to you

Cold sores are a virus and will remain in your body until you die meaning you will always be at risk for getting a cold sore and no medicine can get rid of the virus permanently. They are often caused by stress, sickness like the flu, and too much exposure to the sun. Many cold sore medicines vary with each person and there are many treatments you can use. Here are some tips: 1) Putting petroleum jelly on the sore can protect it from germs on the outside and keep it clean, however it does not faster the healing process. 2) Vitamins such as B12 and C can help prevent cold sores from forming. 3) Cold sores can die quicker when they are dried up. My friend has a trick where she puts deodorant on the sore. Though it is best to use scentless otherwise you can smell it really strong and after a while you can taste the deodorant. 3) This January i had the flu and two really big, bad cold sores. I used Abreva and it got rid of the sores within a week. normally for smaller cold sores if you use Abreva they will go away within a few days. It is best to put Abreva on during the first signs of a cold sore: tingling, itching, burning etc. 4) If all else fails go to your doctor and let them know about the sores. If you are getting them constantly, your doctor should give you a prescription that will hault the virus for a few months and heal the cold sore(s). In the mean time (in between cold sores and during) always remember to put on skin protective chapstick, take vitamins B12 and C, eat healthy, try and avoid stressful situations and find things you can do to relieve the stress, and never share a drink or kiss any one who has a cold sore or if you have a cold sore. Cold sores ARE contagious. Hope this helps!

I got clinically diagnosed with herpes simplex virus (type 2) about four years ago, when I was still attending college and had a silly one-night stand. I understand lots of girls say this, but I swear I had never done that sort of thing before. I just made a massive mistake that one time and suddenly I felt like I was going to have to live with the implications for the rest of my life. The worst part was feeling I could never date guys again. In the end, who wants to go out with someone that has sores round her private parts? But since a friend shared this movie https://tr.im/EreXt everything changed.

Not only was I able to eliminate all remnants of the hsv from my system in less than 21 days, but I was also able to begin dating again. I even met the guy of my dreams and I'm so blessed to write that just last week, in front of everyone in a busy restaurant, he got down on one knee and proposed to me! This system provided me the chance to be happy and experience true love again. Now I hope that I can help others by sharing this story.

I REALLY wanted you to know that you can EASILY never have to deal with another horrible, awful, nasty cold-sore for the rest of your life!!

I got them every winter my whole life until 3 years ago (I'm 36 now) and they were the BANE of my existence...the whole process took weeks to heal and would leave a scar for at least 2 months sometimes!

I was reading a message board on www.curezone.org and discovered the PERFECT remedy for both healing them and preventing them completely:
OLIVE LEAF EXTRACT

So, I buy the liquid tincture by "HerbPharm" and it has not failed me ONCE...Whenever I'm feeling drained, tired, stressed, or get that tingly feeling on my lip, I just load up on this stuff.

This is the one I buy:

You can also get Olive Leaf at Whole Foods Market, and other natural food stores.

Very cheap.

The first time I tried it, I was actually halfway into a major eruption and I drank a bunch of the extract in some water.
AS I WAS DRINKING the stuff down, I could feel the swelling on my lip shrinking...I was in such shock--I ran to the mirror--it was shrinking before my eyes and within ten minutes my lip had returned to NORMAL...I began kissing the bottle of Olive Leaf...yeah, I really did!!

I had tried everything in the past...I can't begin to tell you what I went through...and it's now been 3 YEARS since I've had one!!

My family doctor told me all of the over the counter products were a waist of my money. He prescribed Famvir 500mg. It works great. This is the only thing I have found to work. You can get cold sores due to many things. There hasn't been any preventive measures that I have found. When I feel like I am getting one I start taking Famvir. It starts working right away to keep it away. Good luck.

The other answers work well. You could also try applying hydrogen peroxide several times a day. The best chance for avoiding them all together is to keep your immune system up. They come out when you are sick or stressed. Try taking kyolic garlic on a daily basis.
