You know, they are ususally only grumpy for a reason. I mean... you wouldn't be grumpy for no reason would you? He is still human. I suggest sitting him down and talking to him, maybe ask him stories about his past... Maybe figure out why he is so grumpy. Maybe something happened to him a long time ago, but he still has not gotten over it. Every once in a while, I think about something that happened, and it puts me in a bad mood. Maybe instead of thinking he is grumpy, think.... Why is he hurting that bad?

Maybe it has nothing to do with his feelings. Maybe it is pain. Pain in the legs, back, chest, arms. You should talk to him find out.... Maybe offer a massage.

All I know is that when My grandfather is in a "grumpy" mood.... I talk to him about it. Then I find everyway possible to make him smile.

Always remember, they have had a lifetime of living. They have been threw the Best times and the worst. So give him a little break.

MOST importantly, Enjoy your time with him, and ALWAYS kiss his forhead. (They secretly LOVE that!)

HOpe everything works out,

I only knew one of mine, and that was only for a few years. He was lovely and used to make me laugh. My older sis verifies this. He was a sniper in the Guards during the war and had the reputation of being a hard, but fair man, not a man to tangle with. When he died, it was discovered that grand-dad donated a substantial amount of money to a local children's home every month. I suppose there were 2 sides to him. Some are naturally grumpy all their lives

Some PEOPLE are grumpy, no matter what their relationship to others...but grandfathers are stereotyped more as happy and men who spoil their grandkids, rather than grumpy...

However, stereotypes are often wrong...
