i am 21 years old and right now i am on my period. i have noticed that my blood is a little thin - is this normal? this is the first time this has happened. please let me know if i should be concerned. also, anything to fix it?

Yes, it's probably normal. there is nothing to fix. Your flow can vary month to month. And it may change as you get older. When I was in college, my period was very light and lasted only 3 days. Now that I'm older, it's heavier, sometimes I even have blood clots. And it lasts a full 7 days. It's normal for it to vary.

Plus, if you are taking birth control bills, shots or inplants, that will make your period lighter as well.

Now, if you have had sex in the last month since your last period, you might want to consider the possibility that you are pregnant. No birth control is 100%. It is not uncommon for a woman to experience a light period during her first month of pregnancy.

Also, if you have recently started a vigorous exercise program of dropped a lot of weight quickly, that will effect your flow as well.

Hormones are funny things. It's not unusual to have all sorts of irregularities with your menstrual cycle.

Relax. You have enough to worry about.
