No, because my friend was told to relax to help the baby come out easier but it didn't make her dilate any faster...now if you're really close to dilate then you relax even more then yes.

No that's not true at all, but the more relaxed you are the better you can deal with things, you can only really be relaxed until your are fully dilated and then its all go and even though it may hurt this is when you get to push with the pain and its not so bad, honestly it really isn't as bad as people say, and once you are fully dilated dint forget you really are just about to have your baby!

No. I was relaxed and walking around the hospital when my contractions were really bad but i stayed 3 Cm's dilated. When your baby is ready to come out he will drop down and this should help the dilation. I asked for pethidine as i was in agony towards the end and i jumped to 8 Cm's in the space of 10 minutes. If you need help and pain relief just ask for it. It really depends on the individual as each pregnancy is different

I think the more you walk around when your in labour the faster you dilate . did´t do it with my first child but did with my second child . Only 4 hrs and that was it really quick and easy

that's what they say but how we are meant to stay relaxed ill never know. sitting on a gym ball is meant to be good for this as it puts pressure on your pelvic area helping to speed things up and make the actual delivery a little easier.
