i know the model no. and machine type no. but can't find the model name. How do i find the model name that is not on the outer case.
all help would be appreciated,

IBM PCs usually have a model number like 6365-42U. The first four numbers are the most important. All IBMs I've ever laid hands on have a spot on the front (if it's a PC) most likely very low on the bezel where you will find S/N: XXXXXXX and P/N:XXXX-XXX. It is usally a small rectangle shape.
For laptops it's on the under side.
Print is sometimes very small.
Older models had a second tag on the back witht he same info.

Normally on the front next to IBM logo, if not then on a plaque on the back, sorry but that is all I can think off

What exactly are you looking for? Are you looking for your computer specs? You could open it up and look up the motherboard specs by the motherboard number. Would more than likely give you all the information you need.
